Picked this one up today. 1979 jmp 2204, been with the same owner for the last 37 years and was last serviced in 1989, hasn’t even had a change of tubes since then but still works remarkably well and runs silent. Anything look amiss or unoriginal?

What a score! My hat off to you sir.
I'm sure it took some time to locate the right amp and that one is some trophy!
Many years of enjoyment for you I wish. :)

Congrats, that is a Holy grail level amp, AFAIC. Play it loud and proud. My fave Marshall master volume. I had the JMP 2104 combo version and a JCM 800 series 2204 head.

People say there is no difference between those earlier amps and the later 800 series but run into the same cab, the JMP was a better sounding amp, and all my guitar playing friends at the time agreed.

But I was stupid and I sold the combo because I was sick of dragging it and my 1960A around together. I should have pulled the amp from the combo, and put it in the 800 series headbox. Or just kept it, because then I'd have a pair of blackback G12Ms too.

If I ever go back in time, I'm going to visit myself at a few key times and :nutkick:

Congrats...nice amp. Mine is dated 3 1/2 weeks later with the same initials in the assembly sign-off spot.
