I have a 1997 Marshall JCM 900 1936. It came with Vintage 30's. Not being a V30 fan, I wanted to get my sound into a 2 x 12. I typically run a 1960BX with Greenbacks and a 1960B with older G12T-75's at the same time.

I bought an older 75 on Ebay and ordered a new Creamback from Sweetwater. I installed it today and am BLOWN AWAY!!!! :dude:

I can honestly say it is the best sounding 2 x 12 I have ever heard. The Creamback is a Greenback on steroids. Smooth mids and great crunch, just like the greenback with an awesome low end response. Paired with the shimmering highs and tight low end of a well worn 75 and it is pure magic.

The sound of this cab is so far exceeding what I hoped for!! Unbelievable!! Classic Marshall tone being delivered with this combination.

If you have a 1936 with 75's and you're looking to try something, pick up one Creamback and rock on!

I'll be selling the two V30's on Craigslist in southeastern PA and will post it in the Members Classifieds. If you're interested, PM me and thanks!

I hope to do a video clip this weekend and post it on YouTube. Just ran out of time today. I also want to record some lead tracks with it to hear how the Creamback compares with the Greenback. Will keep you posted and thanks.

I guess I now MUST try a set of 65 watt Creambacks. I know the difference between 75's and V30's was like Day and Night. Dammit, more GAS. Thanks lol.

Congratulations.

This G12M-65 creamback, how is that compared to the old G12-65's. Do they have any similarity other than the name?

I have a feeling these are going to be very popular with the 2x12 crowd. Nice review and we'll be waiting for clips.

I got an email today. $130 each. not bad at all!
It would be nice to crank a Greenback cab and not worry.

I'd love to hear a demo. Are there any domo's floating around?

Hey Australian,

Here is one of the few clips found on YouTube. It was embedded in an earlier post I believe.

I have been eyeing those since NAMM last year. I have 8 4x12 cabs most with different speakers. Want to make one of those for Creambacks only to run stereo. Nice to finally read a review. Avatar had them for $129 each and a bit cheaper for four.

Just to clarify. The new G12-65 "Creamback", and I dont think anyone but the OP calls it, or has ever called it that,or ANYTHING LIKE THAT, is nothing like a real old G12-65 late 70's early to mid 80's "AC DC " G12-65 speaker. The tone may be somewhat similar, but the vintage 70's/80's G-12-65 speaker blows it out of the water.
Whats the deal with even mentioning a 'Greenback'? The old G12-65 is nothing like a Celestion Greenback in any way shape or form.
A "Creamback" is a 70's G12m-25 greenback with a Cream colored plastic dustcover, and thats the extent of anything that shoudl EVER be called a Creamback...certainly not the new reissue G12-65.

The new G12M-65 is called the Creamback. It's a new speaker from Celestion and is advertised as a higher wattage Greenback. So, yeah it's a G12M-65 Creamback.

It's not touted as a G12-65...nothing like it.

Celestion is calling the new speaker "Creamback". I totally agree that it will cause confusion, as the older Creamback's are great speakers and nothing like a Greenback. Not sure why Celestion didn't just call the new speaker a Super Greenback or Greenback Plus??
