Earlier I had a Vox 4W Combo featuring the Top Boost exclusively. I sold it. Thought this doesn't sound like a Vox.
Recently I bought the Vox 50th Anniv Handwired 15W. It has Top Boost as an alternative channel. I was not aware of Top Boost's history prior to buying. Apparently the original AC30s EF86 produced harmonic feedback. Not on 15W. Today there is rubber goop over pre-amp tube to alleviate this.
Do you like or dislike?? I sense its less refined than the regular latter circuit. However, the looser feel is more vintage Bassman/Plexi like.
I have head version.
