I have a 8100 Valvestate that is rated 100w @ 4 ohms. Does anyone know what the wattage would be @ 8 ohms? I think it would be lower but I don't know by how much. Thanx MIDI

I'm not sure.
For a solid state amp, doubling the impedance of the speaker usually halves the power, but I'm not sure about the Valvestate models. They may have some funky circuitry that somehow compensates for changes in impedance, I don't know.

My friend has one and he says it's 80 watts on it's own and 100 with the ext. cab. Doesn't really make sense to me.

It does, if the the 2 cabs are wired in parallel. The math doesn't "add up", but solid state amps are more complicated.
