-I found an old thread over on the gear page about people and even amp companies diluting acetone and putting a small amount -(either by spaying or painting)- on the cone and the doping to take the harshness out of speakers, with 75's & V-30's having great results...

-and some put lacquer on the dust caps to brighten the speaker

-who amongst us will sacrifice there speakers for the betterment of his fellow MARSHALL formites!!!

I sure hope they don't 'forget' and later list those same cones for sale in the Classifieds section.

No wonder my B cab with G12-65s sounds nothing like the G12-65s I know of. :D

-I'm giving some serious though about doing this to some 75's, they say that this treatment makes them sound like greenbacks-

Conversely, has anyone ever heard of covering a cone with rubber cement to enhance bass?
This guy I knew did it to his home tower speaker, on the woofers..it di seem to work..

Hey! Why don't we all take our old seventy80's and try it on them? If nobody wants them afterwards then nothing changed! :naughty:

Never heard of the acetone thing, but an old audiophile dude told me to put English Oil on the foam/rubber surrounds to keep them from dry rotting.

I'm not sure he was talking about the furniture stuff though?

Seemed logical to me at the time, but I've yet to do it.
