Grats on catchin the show man, sounds mad.

Ill see if I can dig it out, it was real reverby and not tight at all(very similar to love), the recording was sub-par imo. Bob Rock did wonders to get Electric to where it ended up. Such an under-rated album by a super band. Billy Duffy is the reason I play a LP. :dude: And Sonic Temple was a damn fine album as well. After that they went down hill, too much heroin =(

Thanks man. When I saw them I was spitting distance from the stage.

Sonic temple was probarbly my favorite album.

Seeing him live with the white falcon, it was a pretty straight ahead live sound. Not buried in verb or delay. Made we wanna get a AC30 and a Gretsch.

I'm not sure.
Best song to come out of the 1990's IMO. Too bad they changed their sound later to try to fit the era.

The whole album is great.
I just found out that Damon Johnson (leader of Brother Cane) was recently with Alice Cooper for a while, now he's with Thin Lizzy. That dude is awesome.

Tough call but I'm going for this....you all know I'm right. ;). The fact it's live makes it all the better. This was the definitive version for me.

Always loved the tones Rudolf and Matthias got. I believe for the recording of this, Matthias was using his Soldano SLO, and Rudolf was using his Marshall 2205/2210.

And a lot of people are gonna disagree with me, but I really liked the tones Dino Cazares got from the first Fear Factory album. Believe it or not, this is all JCM800 2203, although it was modified by Bob Bradshaw. :D

Angus and Malcolm Young flashed in to my mind first, and second Judas Priest on the "Rocka Rolla" vinyl era.

Easy call for me :

Zakk Wylde with Ozzy early '90s. Any songs from the LIVE and LOUD album (1993 if I remember correcly).

I posted this one as an exemple :

This is my fav tone, perfection ! Keep in mind that this is YouTube compression :p

Yeah...Angus would be in my top 5 along with Knopfler, JP, Jimi and Richie as numero uno. For me it's if it makes the hairs on my neck stand up. I like guitar players that touch my soul and have intuition for melody. If I'm listening to the local Rock station at work I have to stop what I'm doing and take 5 to listen.
Some people will diss me for this but players like EVH, Satriani, Vai, etc. etc. The more I listen to them the less I hear that I like. You can go on you tube and there's hundreds of videos of kids trying to emulate the speed/technique freaks and they all sound the same. Some people will say it's easy to get the classic tones, but it's what you do with it that makes all the difference.

The end solo from this makes me cry  :slap:

I actually crossed threads thinking that this was the other one-"best organic tone" thread.

So Greatest guitar sound, I'd go with Blackmore too. Knoffler is one of my favorite tones too. Today I still enjoy listening Sultans of Swing. They both had an intuition about melody that was special.

For metal, you can't get any better than the tone James was getting on Master of Puppets. It's punishing, heavy and still sounds warm, not sterile.

Remember, James recorded ALL the rhythm tracks back then.
