Not 100% sure, but I don't think so. It was all Don Kirshners deal, and I think he had his own studio musicians he used....but I could be wrong.

You are correct jtees4, that is part of the reason eventually the Monkees broke up, they wanted to write, play their instruments and not only sing the materials that were provided to them and therefore why the show ended.
