Now I'm convinced.

J Rockett Audio The Dude V2

Rather interesting. I would love to see what it can do with the PRS custom 22.

Hi anitoli,

Just in case, should I just send a chassis without the wooden enclosure for health inspection or the whole amp head, for the sake of safe delivery ?

I think it's better in it's head case. That's how amps are shipped from the factory, i don't see any reason it's not sufficient. It adds a bit of weight which bumps up the shipping a bit but i never was too comfy with the shippers insurance policies. Better to ship any amp with overkill packing, IMHO.

We want moore

Do we need more than one Marshall amp to cover all the grounds ?

Hi there,
Regarding the carbon copy, how do I set up a desirable setting so that it won't steal the show from my original signal ?
As for the high gain scenario, are there any delay in play in the Hamer video clip by Mister Nordrock ? Do I need a different delay setting for high gain ?
I really appreciate your valuable expertise in this area.

Meanwhile, stick to the book and pick standard setting.

I am not too familiar with the carbon copy but I would like to see how it responds and reacts to different pickups, low and high output, single-coils and humbuckers, for that matter.

Hamer Mirage '94 #439193 Koa Top 25.5" scale 8.8 lbs warm sounding

I replaced the stock neck and middle seymour duncan vintage rails with seymour duncan cool rails. I believe I always have a soft spot for these cool rails, while the bridge pickup remains seymour duncan hot rails.

neck cool rails 9.43k ohm
neck & middle in series 4.77k ohm
middle cool rails 9.34k ohm
middle & bridge in series 5.96k ohm
bridge hot rails 15.70k ohm

whereas the PRS custom 22 '96 25" scale 7.48 lbs warm sounding

stock neck dragon bass 7.89k ohm
parallel single-coils 2.79k ohm
series single-coils 13.10k ohm
outside coils 2.80k ohm
stock bridge dragon treble 18.24k ohm

I found myself no longer making peace with the stock PRS winged tuners and had them replaced once and for all with decent conventional tuners, for the record.

More testing likely to be carried out ..........

The Hamer Artist Studio '96 #645529 7.04 lbs less warmer than the Hamer Studio on the left

The stock Seth Lover pickups had been replaced by me back in '98 with Duncan '59 neck and Jazzie Blues JB bridge, for the record.

'59 neck 7.42k ohm JB bridge 15.90k ohm

Some magic moments in a lazy afternoon ..........

Hamer Studio volume 7 tone 10
All pedals True Bypass
Front cables 5 feet x 2
Fx Loop cable 10 feet x 2
Fx Loop in parallel
Fx Loop level out
Front Effects Mix full

MXR Carbon Copy in Fx Loop

Ibanez TS808HW into
Ibanex NU-Tube Tube Screamer into
Xotic BB into
J Rockett Dude into
Friedman Small Box into
JHS AT into
Marshall 6101

Having fun mostly on the clean channel where all the magic moments show their true colours.
I believe I become addicted to the analogue delay plus dumble overdrive sound in the mix.

Just fooling around with the pedal settings.
Those are preliminary settings, for the record.

Haven't tried with other guitars and amps yet.

Update :
Les Paul R7 Goldtop volume 7 tone 10
neck stock PAF 7.54 k (pickup eq bass 6 mid 4 treble 8)
bridge stock PAF 7.83 k (pickup eq bass 6 mid 4 treble 8)

Hamer Studio volume 7 tone 10
neck stock seymour duncan 59 7.88 k (pickup eq bass 6 mid 3 treble 8)
bridge stock seymour duncan jazz blues 15.7 k (pickup eq bass 5 mid 6 treble 8)

Same amp and pedals setting when testing the Les Paul,
the performance of the Goldtop is also impressive and promising, apart from being not so hot in the bridge position. It is worth to mention that the neck PAF of the Goldtop is back to its feet
again.

Carry on my adventures with a TC Alter Ego V2 vintage echo

There are 9 vintage delay sounds carefully reproduced by the echo experts at ProGuitarShop and TC ELECTRONIC, from sweet saturated EchoPlex repeats, the unique magnetic drum delays of the legendary Echorec, an exclusive modulated take on TC’s own 2290 delay unit to tons of other classic echo tones.

tcAlterEgoV2VintageEchoDelayTypes.jpg

7 Types of vintage delay that I like a lot :

1. Binson Echorec 2 (EREC2)
2. Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory-Man Chorus (DMM C)
4. 2290 M TC Electronic 2290 Modulated (2290 M)
6. Boss DM-2 (BDM2)
7. Watkins Copykat (CKAT)
8. Maestro Echoplex 1 (EP1)
9. Roland Space Echo (SP)

Preliminary setting

Time @noon
Feedback @noon
Level @noon
Subdivision dotted eights (middle position)

This Alter Ego V2 has exceeded my expectations and surprises me with unexpected delight.

Having some fun with my pedals ...........

Hamer Studio into Catalinbread Karma Suture
into Mojo Hand FX Colossus into Mojo Hand FX DMBL
into Walrus Audio Mayflower into J Rockett Audio 10 Ton Hammer
into Marshall 6101 clean channel

Karma Suture - mild gain sweet harmonic fuzz
(For even better tone and response, run a 9 volt battery instead. You’ll notice a warmer tone and better dynamics with a battery.)

Colossus - russian + civil war flavoured fuzz
DMBL - mild gain dumble flavoured overdrive
Mayflower - mid gain overdrive
10 Ton Hammer - old school high gain overdrive
all true bypass

I prefer to run the sweet Karma Suture and Colossus more than the Boss Hyper Fuzz which is too wild for my liking.
10 Ton Hammer also has a special place in my heart. Its old school high gain sound is really adorable and impressive.

Good tone. My thoughts are go to the neck position, adjust your tone and volume to tastes. It doesn't sound like his amp is very loud, just sounds like he's rolling everything back to tastes. I wouldn't go too crazy trying to match it, just find something in the ball park. Have fun!

Thank you for your insightful remarks. I will keep that in mind, sir.
Once in a while, I can't help having an idea to leave some remarks to ask for his guitar and amp settings.

We've all been there.

Messing with tone and volume is one of the best things you can do for sound imo. I used to always just play with everything up to 10 and rely on the amp to shape my tone. Going loud with the amp or having a good fuzz on and then rolling back with the volume there's an incredible range of tone to be found in there.

I imagine there are different approaches that would work.
This guy gets some very similar tones (imo) going straight into a Fender.

A 1975 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe with full size humbuckers and two boost toggles into a Blackface Deluxe Reverb with 12" Jensen, I'm not sure how that works for me.
A similar approach made by Mr Thomas Blug would probably work.

Nice demo, he really understands tone and explains it well.

I just got 3 amps this week and I am searching ebay for bluguitar ? Have I gone mad ?

What amps and bluguitars ? Tell me more before you go completely mad.
