Hey, on the road, I have actually seen IATSE guys place a mic like that. Nobody let's 'em forget it for the rest of the show call!

International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. These are the local guys who load in and set up the shows at tour venues. The road crew for the lighting and sound company give direction to these guys who do the actual work. Tell 'em to mic up the guitar rig, here's the mic you will use, we will position it for sound check.. Go back after setup to position the mic and guess what, it's aimed at the grill cloth on a head! It doesn't happen often and it's usually a new guy or a practical joker!
