Well, I made this thread in order to try to expand my guitar brands knowledge, to find new guitars for me to check. So that everybody can learn something new.
Thanks in advance.

My current list of guitar brands preferences are(not in order):

Electric and Electro-acoustic:
-Gibson
-Epiphone
-Fender
-Rickenbacker

Acoustic and Semi-acoustic(not in order):

-Gibson
-Epiphone
-Ovation
-Guild

Well, I've checked lots of guitar brands but I'm always open to new suggestions.

I used to own a really nice sounding Cort semi-hollow... check them out if you come across one.

I was going to do this long list but instead I am going to say that this would be my "must have" group:

Fender Strat
Fender Tele
Gibson Les Paul
PRS Custom
Jackson or Charvel Strat

Fender P-Bass
Rickenbacker

Gibson Songwriter
Taylor

I'm a sheep. I like Gibson and Gretsch electrics for the most part with the occasional okay Fender and for acoustics I like Martins.

I'm not really a brand guy per se but,

Gibson
PRS
Jackson (which is my main one right now)
Fender (which is Jackson now)
Charvel (which is Fender/Jackson)
and otherwise it's hit or miss as usual.

I like Ibanex prestige non trem guitars but, they don't make many:(

I'm a Gibson guy but like Fenders pretty well also.
Carvin makes some pretty nice electrics. I had one once.
Older Kramers made in the 80's were pretty good and of course the older Charvels.

Lester,

I traded my Carvin to a guy for my a mkiii half stack a while back. He played US Jacksons and actually was not interested in trades, but I took the guitar with me and had to talk him into trying it. When he did, he said he could not believe it! He said it played better than his US Jacksons! He was so overwhelmed by it that he traded me the half stack for it right then!

OH YEA!! I totally forgot about Carvin. Definately one of the best guitars you can buy for the money.

I actually have had several carvins, and still have one. VERY VERY well built machine
