Orange Mkii Rockerverb And 6l6 Tubes?

I had a MK II for a few years, tried some 6L6GC in it once and did not like it, I took them out pretty quickly. It was a while back, I remember it losing some of the bite and clarity that I liked. Seemed to big/bassy/undefined with 6L6...wasn't worth it for me.

Don't you use .........? you'r thread has been started. ;)

cut the guitar vol in half is my clean channel its too much trouble hooking up a channel switcher foot switch and keeping track of it, I have enough problem dealing with an OD pedal. In my opinion it's too hard to hear a super clean sound anyway unless the band stops playing, it's got to...

any mods to lower gain on ch3. evh 5150iii

I would try to resist modding, and try other things first. I think mods on amps are really a hit or miss, many times yielding unexpected and unwanted results or compromises. Other things to try, for example there is a pedal that is kind of a gain reduction pedal that you could turn on when...

New Mesa: Sonvolt you didn't tell us

I've owned some Mesa's and usually get rid of them pretty quickly. If I were to ever get another, that would be the one to have. Looks and sounds like some serious quality gear. And I love the fact that we have an option for U.S. made amp in this day and age.

    Orange OR100

Nice! I love the OR100s and OR50s that I've heard, and in that video it sounds ridiculously rich. I myself recently got a RV50MKIII, and really don't have much desire to power on my other amps, this thing does everything I've ever needed in am amp.

    a new amp for bedroom

For many people, it is impractical advice to say "just go try some out", I can never find the brands/models I want to try in any local music stores. And there are always new models coming out, so why not feel free to ask a few times over the years about new models? I can't remember from...

Anybody up for a $2500 Boss amp??

When they said Mike Himmel, I knew the name sounded familiar. The guy playing on stage is the guy that made some videos endorsing Blades amps. Not sure if he was an endorsee, but it seemed like it. Amp sounded pretty good but lacked a little bit of warmth to the tone, obviously because of...

Mesa JP-2C John Petrucci Signature Amp (MkIIC+ "reissue")

I think it is wicked cool and useful to have a DI output with cab simulator and also a built in load so you can turn the speaker off. I have been wrangling my own home setup to do this with all my tube amps, I'm shocked to see a company build all of that into an amp.

    Jackson or Ibanez

I have some late 80s, early 90s Ibanez that I like way more than any Jackson I've tried, but not sure about the new ones. To my ears the Jackson have a more sterile sound, and the Ibanez more organic, but I could be halucinagenic

Gimme ALL the links to the HOF (Hall of Fame Reverb)

I can relate, I had a HOF mini that I used with my last OR15 and it made it sound awesome! I bit on the digital synthetic side as compared to tube reverb, but it has it's own thing going on, not inferior to tube, just different.

    Help Picking: Orange-Boogie-Other

I owned a RV MKII and now have a MKIII that I've had for a least a few months. I believe the MKIII checks all the boxes you require. I never use the clean channel but it is very good, as long as you don't need a preamp gain control on your clean channel, it doesn't have one. The gain channel...

    MXR dime distortion is,

Good to know, I have been in search of the ultimate distortion pedal for months. May have to try that one someday, but that is a steep price, but MXR is great brand. I recently picked up a used Boss Mega-Distortion that is very cool for the ultimate sustain in soloing, but lacking on the...

    What a Bitch!

Curious if you've ever tried a Rockerverb? I think I remember you stating that you had in a prior music store trip. I admit without an OD they sound a little lackluster, and you said you didn't want to use an OD pedal. But man the core tone is there waiting to come out, if you hit the front...

    Recording w/o speaker load

I understand the skepticism, I mean for something that is 15 bucks seems crazy. I found a ton of articles online where people are making their own load for this purpose by putting heavy resistors in series. It seems to be a matter of math to me, techs use those all the time servicing amps...

    Recording w/o speaker load

That's a great point, I had a tech mention that to me when I was inquiring about that type of dummy load. They do also sell a 200W dummy load resistor for twice the price to be safe. Instead of buying the 200W one I just use the 1/2 power switch on my head, most 100W heads have that type of...

    Recording w/o speaker load

Has anyone struggled to find an inexpensive way to record silently into a console etc without a speaker/cabinet attached? I stumbled upon a very cheap method and thought I'd share in case anyone else was looking to do the same. I found a 100W non-inductive dummy load resistor from an online...

    Need Opinions: Early Mesa Circuits

sorry, don't have an answer, I was just curious if what you had was a Kitty Hawk M1? I have heard those were made to copy the early Mesa Marks.

    Need Help Mesa Nomad 100

Which tube type do you have in it, 6L6 or EL34? Try changing tube type to see if it gives you a sound more to your liking. I ran mine with EL34s for while and liked it that way. Wait, I had the 100W head which had the ability to switch tube types, your combo may not have that. It is a...

Looking for small amp head with fx loop..

Orange OR15 is a very small light el84 15Watt tube head with an effects loop, sounds killer with an overdrive. Under 700 bucks. Its only one channel though.

Some Advise wanted for an Overdrive Pedal Christmas Aquisition

I have found the cheap EH Soul Food to be a great boost that adds some good hair without coloring the tone too much. You really have to crank the Drive to get it to distort, which I like, it is cheap at 70 bucks new, I think it is a clone of a Clon pedal? How could you go wrong?
