How do you increase headroom in a 50w JMP?

It would sound tighter, more punchy and aggressive with more pick attack. Im not looking for more gain. I run the amp cranked into an attenuator hence why I am looking for the higher headroom since gain is plenty. I just want more pick attack and low end tightness.

How do you increase headroom in a 50w JMP?

I get that, but my goal is to make the 50 sound more like the 100. Maybe circuit changes, tube changes only to an extent though, I can't afford to buy a new PT OT etc lol. I understand there is only so much you can do where beyond id need to get a 100w but I wanna try out the limited options...

How do you increase headroom in a 50w JMP?

Right, a 50w is generally associated with smoother compression with less pick attack due to the lower power and a 100 with agressive pick attack and punch. My goal is to make the 50 watt sound more like the 100 watt.

Keep breaking strings on a Floyd Rose

I think I’ve fixed the issue, been running new daddario coated strings for about 2 weeks under extreme stress and no breakage ! I believe it was the strings after all.

How do you increase headroom in a 50w JMP?

I have a 50 watt jmp with about 440v HT and was wondering if I can raise it anyhow to get more headroom? I’m sorta tryna get the 50 to sound more like a 100w. If there are other ways of increasing headroom as well please do tell.

    About fat caps in Marshalls

I did some more research and saw he had the fat cap later on, late 80s I believe. I already get the evh sound because I use it LOUD, I just wanted to see whether the fat cap really did enhance it or something but nope it doesn't. cheers.

    About fat caps in Marshalls

So I've been trying out mods listed from EVH's super lead, for now, the fat cap. The consensus from a couple forums is that the value he had in there was anywhere between 220 and 330uf. However, I tried a 330uf and it was a horrible, uncontrollable muddy mess yet in eddies recordings the tone is...

The best and only pedal you ever need (probably)

I’d suggest the boss eq200 over that, same price, has 2 eqs plus a digital display to show what your adjustment has done in reality.

The best and only pedal you ever need (probably)

This is kinda like the boss eq200. This is a really expensive pedal. For that much the boss eq200 is better, it has programmable presets plus a digital screen and more connectivity options. Is this superior to the mxr in terms of equing or are you saying it’s superior because it has more features ?

You might have a hard time putting that on a pedalboard 🗿

The best and only pedal you ever need (probably)

you’re hearing the difference between a buffered and a non buffered signal. Non-buffered : the capacitance of the cables roll off high end in your sound and it moves the resonance peak of the signal closer to the higher mids depending on the length of cable you use. When buffered it restores the...
