Hello, I have a '74 SL 100w that the impedance selector was completely bypassed.
Any idea what was done based on the wiring in this pic?
I would guess it was hardwired to 16ohms?
The purple and yellow appear to be wired together, and I believe the black under them is just capped?
Well that wasn't it but darn close.
As I am poking the terminals on the V1 tube socket, I notice that the pin that has a red wire going through it and joining the pin next it, the solder joint was loose. Looks like someone was in there are some point, and didn't solder it up correctly...
The volume seems to drop off about 50% and will stay that way for who knows how long. I've tried tubes, effect looping, cleaning pots, deoxing tube sockets and pins, inspected both boards for broken solder joints, checked bias, etc.
Funny thing is that it is very random, sometimes will play at...
Bias tested my new to me 1987 2555 and it reads 0.00 with Eurotubes tester and Snap On meter. I have done the test many times and know how to do it.
Swapped meters, power tubes, checked connections, continuity on tester, everything I can think of. When the bias pot is turned, still reads...
I just bought an original 2555 and plays great. Only issue is when powered on with channel switching knob pushed in, the red LED is on. When it is pulled, it goes out. The switching is following the LED indication. There is nothing plugged in to footswitch jack.
I have another one that...
I have a quad of El-34L's that I took out of my 2555 because it just didn't seem as loud as normal. I checked the bias about a year ago and it was fine.
I don't play the amp very often.
i tested them other day on an old tube tester with just the one meter.
Three of the tubes tested...
Cool, enjoy it.
Hunt around on Ebay, those Schaller Golden 50's pickups can usually be had pretty cheap. Make a nice sound and will make it look '80's correct!
Yes, I'm guessing that is a B series Vanguard, maybe in the 3000 range? Should be an R2, 1 5/8" nut. Maple or Rosewood?
Yes, he is a good guy. Had a lengthy phone chat with him when my '70 Superlead PT burnt up.
He wasn't building at time due to stock, but I would have bought one if he was!
I believe that would be the Muysicyo era Baretta. Supposed to be pretty decent guitars.

If you are looking for a Pacer, I think they are making those new again and called Pacer Classic. Seem to be going pretty cheap on Ebay. Good one too customize...
I own about 30 Kramer guitars, from Strat head to pointy, so if you need any factual info let me know.
EVH used a PAF pickup out of a '60's Gibson ES in the first frankenstrats, well documented.
His malaga purple Kramer with the stripes shows an example of a Schaller pickup, the dead give away...
