Beings that your a longtime Vox user I'm pretty certain that youd regret parting with the AC30 for the DSL (eventhough the DSL is a great amp>> don't get me wrong). At the very least you could find a good distortion unit to run through the AC30 to give you the different flavor you are desiring...
While I'll admit I wouldn't pay that kind of money for it it would be kinda cool to have around as a keepsake. It's pretty neat to see how the Marshall Amps have changed cosmetically over the years.... :dude:
Gotta love the question someone asked.... "Do you still have the purchase receipt?". The guy made it and held onto it all these years. DUH! No brainer.... ha!
IMO it's quite soon to really start thinking about the possibilty of a replacement. I'm no expert by any means but I'm pretty confident that the new tubes is what this amp needs. If you happen to get the full refund I'd probably send it to a different tech as the one youve been using sucks. lol
Both Marshall and Gibson have a history of milking Slash's name. I say use what gear works best for you and your personal needs. Don't buy gear just because your favorite musician uses it because chances are they have a few grand in rack equipment adding to their sound.
Kinda sounds like what happened to me a few monthes ago. I go in and ask if they had any R8s I could try. The guy gives me a blank look and says "Whats that?". I replied with "Gibson Les Paul 1958 Reissues". He was like "oh yeah, over here hanging on the wall behind the counter". lol Anyway, I...
I wouldn't man. Variety is where it's at. :dude: You should get an A/B box and take the clean from the DSL and Distortion from the Mesa. Something different. :) I suppose that could be a crime around here though.... lol :)
Thanks man. Will do. Unfortunately, I got the head but am still waiting for the cab. Got the head on Ebay and the cab is on order and not due for a few weeks. :(
Yeah that was another reason I went for the 50 originally, however, I later realized that it would only cost 30-50 dollars more for the 2 extra EL34s for the 100. I guess what I'm saying is that its always cool to save money but I don't think the 30-50 bucks more each retube would have made much...
I see. I'm not familar. Is there an easy way of explaining how much more volume the 3db difference makes? Just curious. Sorry about all the questions. lol
Thanks for the input. I bought myself a DSL50 because it breaks up sooner and because I only play at home. I figured the extra wattage would go to waste if I went with the DSL100. I guess I'm wondering if I made the right decision. Pretty sure I did given my current playing situation though.
Anyone here own both the DSL100 and DSL50 or have experience with both? Other than the obvious wattage difference is there any kind of difference in tone? Thanks.
