Used SL5 vs DSL5 or DSL20 For Home Use

Mines the C, I’m not familiar with the CR maybe the extra masters makes a big difference.

Used SL5 vs DSL5 or DSL20 For Home Use

If your looking to play at low volumes you might be best off sticking with your Yamaha. I have a DSL 40 and it needs to be pretty loud to really start hitting the sweet spot. Less wattage doesn’t mean lower volume with tube amps per se.

38 is about the high end for these amps right? I was going to do 35 but most of what I play is in the vein of AC/DC, GnR, Motorohead etc. Although I do like to play some SRV and Jimi. The green channel really nails that stuff with a strat or rolling back my volume. Really enjoying this amp, I...

    JCM 2000 - Is Overdrive 2 worthless?

I think if you keep the gain on about 2 it’s got some good tones. I feel like it’s a little thicker sounding then od1, with more emphasis on the lower mids, some might call that muddy. I think it has some cool stoner rock settings in there. It does have a crazy amount of gain though.

So I recently got a multimeter to check the bias on my 40c. My tubes must have just been thrown in there, because one was at 70(!!!) and the other at 32. I couldn’t get the one tube lower then 51. Lucky enough I had a bunch of spare tubes. I had a matched set of Sevtlana’s, biased them to 36...

    Fuzz for DSL crunch channel

I just ordered a silicon mini fuzz face. I think I’ll hold to my fur coat and see where I go from there lol.

    Fuzz for DSL crunch channel

Thanks that was a pretty informative video. There’s so many types of fuzz, then different versions of those types, then mods of those etc that it’s tough to know where to start. Edit: With that said, is there any particular circuit that plays well with an already distorted amp? I feel like a...

Which pedal? No I’m barely competent enough with a soldering iron to install pickups.

    Fuzz for DSL crunch channel

I’m thinking about throwing a fuzz onto my pedal board. I’ve never been a fuzz guy but I’d like to get some jimi/ Wolfmother/ QOTSA tones. I’m not really after that huge wall of sound thing more nasty sounding then smooth. I’ve tried a big muff and an orange fur coat and they were both a...

What ODs Are You Guys Using in Front of Your Marshalls

I’m running a way huge green rhino and a Xotic EP booster in front of my dsl’s crunch channel. The EP booster warms it up and the rhino adds bite/ crunch. Sometimes I stack them and it sounds huge.

Hey guys, after a hiatus I got back into playing (hopefully gigging again soon) and scooped up a dsl 40c on the cheap. I have a good amount of experience with JCM 800, JCM 2000’s, a silver jubilee, Stiletto’s, Budda and Spalwn and I’ve got to say, I really dig this little combo! Especially...

    JCM 800 Basher??

V30's sound awesome in my diezel cab with my 2204. They are well broken in and I run my treb and presence low but I get tone compliments all the time at shows. Never once did someone say I was ear piercing lol.

    JCM 800 Basher??

Best part about the OP is that most recto owners use a 808 or similar TS type as a boost to tighten the bottom end. LOL at anyone who talks shit about any type of amp btw...rectos have their place and actually sit really nice in the band mix with a Marshall.

    Which Boost.

sd-1 is a great match with a 2204. I've been digging the hell out of my keeley baked mod tube screamer though. Makes leads so liquid, almost effortless.
