i have a 4x12 with greenbacks and it breaks up really well at lower volumes and it is survivable. i also have a 1x12 100w handling cab with an eminence patriot that sounds darn close to greenbacks - it use to be you had to push yourself but PAs are better. i also use a high gain amp that at 1/8...
I’ve bought lots of gear and returned lost of gear to Guitar Center. Since the inception of Amazon it used to be near impossible to return merchandise back in the day so GC attitude is expected.
also - most of the people that work in GV are transient employees so they know less than most...
glad you had a great time and enjoyed it! to me - not my cup of tea in fact i had jtm45 and absolutely hated its sound so much i foolishly sold it for $300.00. heard the Bassman many times - also not a fan. BUT - I’m not a classic tone fan - i like the jcm800 and i have the 2007 evh 5150 iii...
a 22 fret guitar falls short of where i need to be. a single coil guitar doesn’t provide enough tonal diversity and is incapable of some of the music we play. a stop tail guitar doesn’t allow for trem dives. a non-locking trem falls short of the amount of dives, pull ups and tune stability.
a...
first - the old amps were built to
make volume and not to shape the sound. the old techs didn’t know as much as you claim. second - the use of the tone knob on a guitar with a tone stack amp is a choice and preference - tell me EVH wasn’t a great guitarist.
third - depends on the music you...
i have the boss tu-2 although its at my son’s house. i have internal tuner in my mustang iii v2 for at rehearsal, i have the tc electronics nova system there as well, i have the shure wireless base unit that is a great tuner for gigs (real bypass), i have the Korg dtr-1000 rack mount strobe or...
no - unless its coil tapped and has a floyd otherwise not that versatile.
with that said - define versatile - songs, sounds, styles, and even with the list i dont see it and i have one with coil taps
well - that’s like comparing metal trash can to a
Ludwig drum and yeah i am not a fan if the T75’s and until i got an EVH 5153 cab i never knew why my sound was so bad.
i also am not a fan of the v30’s for classic rock, blues, 80’s hair metal but for chug they work because you can tune down...
i have the 100w EVH with matching cab. i have the 50w EVH 1x12 combo that I took the head out of. - it has an attenuator built in and lets you enjoy the preamp tone and still have teeth. i have a headrush pedalboard that has l amps within and an frfr for tiny gigs but does not equate to the...

Here is the simple truth.
I no longer use the standby the same way - i use it now to turn the noise off the amp during Set breaks so im ready when the break is over.
So - I just sold my DSL50 about 2 months ago and immediately regretted it so got a DSL100.
Now my DSL50 was loud but not that loud (to me anyway) but I never pushed the volume knob (i use the ultra lead gain dialed between 6 and 8.5) past 5-6 without blowing my mind.
Now I had a DSL100...
