SL 5 No Sound on Clean Channel

That's a small screwdriver. The way the harness and connectors are set up, it doesn't matter which way it goes in. E is always E, etc. Been bench testing this amp for a couple of days with no issues. Cannot get it to cut out now even when I tap on the harness and connectors, unlike before. I am...

SL 5 No Sound on Clean Channel

Tuning the connector around kept all the pins in the same alignment. I verified this using the continuity test I performed earlier. None of the other 10 wires had shorts or issues. All other parts of the amp are functioning properly. If you look at the schematic, this connector, CN23 to CN12...

SL 5 No Sound on Clean Channel

I did check all of the solder joints in the signal path and for good measures, reflowed the pins for the harness connectors. I jumpered the 5th wire (CN23E to CN12E) on the harness and am getting a good signal so far. Cannot get it to cut out when I tap on the connector with a chop stick unlike...

SL 5 No Sound on Clean Channel

Here is a picture of the connectors. The one I am pointing to is where I pressed to get the sound back. I just finished cleaning the harness female connections with DeOxit and a small wire that I inserted several times. Reconnected the harness and have been running the amp for awhile with and...

SL 5 No Sound on Clean Channel

Well, that didn't do the trick. Played through it for several minutes and it started cutting out when I used a distortion pedal. Disconnected the pedal and it was still cutting out until I pressed down on the 11-pin wiring harness. Double checked the continuity on the wiring harness while moving...

SL 5 No Sound on Clean Channel

Cleaned the connector and pins with Deoxit and clean channel still cutting out. Reversed the cable, and am getting sound on the clean channel. Chopsticked the connector and could not get it to cut out. Go figure! Will bench test it for a couple of more days to see if this solved the issue.

SL 5 No Sound on Clean Channel

Looks like I need an 11-pin connector cable. Contacted British Audio and they do not carry this part. Anyone know where I can get one?

SL 5 No Sound on Clean Channel

I checked continuity on the 11 pin connector cable and there are no apparent shorts. Will have to pull the board and check for any issues with the PCB such as cracks or bad solder joints. Will be doing that in the next day or so.

    MG50DFX no clean channel

Having a similar problem with a SL5 and it appears I have a short in the 12 pin molex connector. This connector sends the clean signal back into the circuit before the tone stack. Also looking into cold solder joints. Check your connectors by chop sticking them while the amp is running.

SL 5 No Sound on Clean Channel

Update: When I chop stick the connector, CN12, the sound cuts in and out. Either the connector is bad or cold solder joints on the board.

SL 5 No Sound on Clean Channel

Working on a SL5 where the volume was dropping out on the clean channel. V2 & 3 tested bad on my tube tester so I replaced both with good 12AX7s. Still no sound on the clean channel. The OD channel works fine. Looking at the schematic the clean channel signal goes through some resistors and...

    DSL 2000 Footswitch

Thanks for the schematic. It is a DSL2000 but the schematic matches the footswitch I am working on. Turns out the ground wire was broken off t he PCB. The owner thought he needed all new switches. Resoldered the ground wire and is now working.

    DSL 2000 Footswitch

I have a 5 button footswitch for a DSL 2000 that needs all new switches. Does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram/schematic and parts list for the footswitch? Trying to see if it worth replacing the switches or buy a new one. Thanks

    DSL50 Issues

As I suspected, I found at least one cold joint on the bridge rectifier. Re-soldered all four legs and have been running the amp for about half an hour with no issues. I was able to access the underside of the main board by removing the rectangular cover that the tubes sit in on the top of the...

    DSL50 Issues

Thanks, Ken. I am not using the 16ohm jack, only one of the 4/8 ohm jacks. I think I have it narrowed down to the DC heater circuit for V1 and 2. When the amp cuts out, both V1 and 2 stop glowing. I cannot get the amp to cut out when I have the chassis upside down on my chassis cradle. Put the...

    DSL50 Issues

Well, it's back. Still having the same cutting out issues and I did notice that the heaters on V1 and V2 stopped glowing when it cut out. Tapping on the tubes brings them back up again so I am now thinking cold solder joint or something with the heater power supply for V1 and 2. This amp uses DC...

    DSL50 Issues

Tried swapping a few 12AX7s I had in V3 with no luck. I removed the .022uf cap and reconnected the link and now have full sound back on the amp but am still getting a minor crackling with the tone shift button out. Ran the amp for a few minutes and it started cutting out intermittently again...

    DSL50 Issues

Opened up the amp and rechecked the voltages and everything is in line except for V3. Pin 1- 400vdc, 2- 241vdc, 3- 244vdc, 6 - 241vdc, and 8 -2.4vdc. Pins 1,2, 3 do not look right. Looked all over the internet for voltage charts for the DSL50 with no luck. Voltages on V1, 2, and 4 look...
