Chasing Allen Collin's Tone. Pick help

I am going to attempt to pst pics I was able to capture of Allen playing. These were snapped during the Freebird instrumental in the 1975 BBC video, just before Billy Powell's piano part.

Chasing Allen Collin's Tone. Pick help

Also I posted something about Allen using green? Bullseye picks, which is what I read somewhere. All the rig setup pages I have seen only list that he used the "Bullseye" model, and not which thickness. I have never actually noticed a green pick in any close-up video I have seen of Allen's...

Chasing Allen Collin's Tone. Pick help

I don't have Allen's setup. I'm currently using a DSL100HR head and 1960A cab. Waiting for the "B" to arrive. I used to use. Peavey Classic 100 head with A 2x12 cab I built and loaded with late 70's Scorpion? Concert enclosure speakers. I have an Explorer in natural finish, so close, but...

Chasing Allen Collin's Tone. Pick help

I have some gray Dunlop Standard nylon picks in .73mm and another thickness. To me they sound terrible. That's why I am wondering if the nylon picks used back in the 70's (I don't think I used any nylon picks back then either) were different than the ones made today. Also for years I have...

Chasing Allen Collin's Tone. Pick help

Apparently Allen Collins used the Mel Bay Green Bullseye picks back in the 70's. It looks like they are no longer made. I'm used to using Dunlop Ultex ot Tortex picks. Usually .60 or .73mm. Naturally these are not the same nylon. I used to use blue "Match Picks", but don't know if they are...

    Bottom cab dilemna

Here is a pic of what I have now, if it isn't too large to post.

    Bottom cab dilemna

Thanks for all the input. When I picked up the head, I talked with my Marshall dealer at length about a bottom cab. He brought up many of the things you all mentioned. He checked with his Rep., who had the 1960B cabs is stock, and could add one to the current order my dealer already had in...

    Bottom cab dilemna

By reviewing pictures online, I see that the MX412 bottom/straight cabs aren't made to be stacked? None that I saw had the cups in the top of the cab for a top A cabinet wheels to sit in. Looks like you can only stack. An A cabinet on top of it just has the rubber feet and not wheels?? :(

    Bottom cab dilemna

Well my DSL 100 HR head just came into my dealer. I pick it up tomorrow. I already have a excellent condition 19 60 lead a top cabinet with original speakers. It looks like it's kind of hard to get a hold of a 1960 B cabinet to match. If I'm not touring the country what's the difference in...

    Basic DSL "Emulated" hookup question

Still waiting for the DSL100HR head, but have questions not answered in the manual. For the headphones emulated out, does that take a "Stereo" 1/4" output even though the amp is actually mono? Also, for the line in from say my phone or mp3, is that also 1/8" / 3.5mm stereo/ TRS I assume. Thanks.

DSL100HR has too much gain... whaddya mean??

Believe it or not, I bought it through my local, small guitar store for exactly $500.00. The owner, who I trusted at the time (store is long since closed) told me not to trust the tubes in the amp. He knew the person selling it and had them ship it to his store for me to buy. He said too many...

DSL100HR has too much gain... whaddya mean??

Sorry for the grainy pics, but here are two of my only previous Marshall valve amp. I bought it at least second hand back around 1984. I know it had no where near the overdrive of the current DSL's.

DSL100HR has too much gain... whaddya mean??

I must be missing something. I'm waiting patiently for a DSL100HR to get back in stock so I can finally get a high gain Marshall. I play Classic Skynyrd, Dire Straits, Van Halen, etc. My only previous Marshall valve amp was a JMP 100 watt head from the late 70's?? Don't know because none of...

    DSL100HR Where are they????

Here is a portion of the reply I received from the store sales rep I had emailed with the same question. "I do know that Marshall has no plans to discontinue any of the line at this time. FYI current ETA I am seeing for the DSL100HR is November". That is not coming from the actual dealer I...

    DSL100HR Where are they????

That's what it sounds like. Seems like a different company to make the circuit boards, but I haven't heard that from Marshall. Do the DSL100HR heads come with Sovtek tubes???

    DSL100HR Where are they????

Now a dealer has said it will most likely be November until the DSL's arrive. That's a six month wait!! I hope like heck they are built to the same high standards and don't have issues!! I guess it gives me more time to find a 1960 B Lead cabinet to match the top/ angles "A" I already picked up.

    DSL100HR Where are they????

Exactly!! What is Marshall's reasoning for having the DSL's produced in Vietnam? Just lower labor costs so they can sell them at a lower price point? I specifically snatched up a mint used 1960 A Lead cab from my dealer because of the price, the fancier jack plate/input options, and mostly...

    DSL100HR Where are they????

I realize this thread is months old, but has anyone heard anything yet?? I ordered a DSL 100HR head back in May?? My prominent Marshall (and Gibson) dealer had already ordered some a few months earlier and hadn't received them yet. I "heard" that the company that was making the DSL printed...

    NAD

Congratulations. I'm just getting back into playing after taking a few years off. While waiting for a new DSL100HR to come in to my dealer, I already picked up a beautiful condition 1960A Lead cab and that same 6 button footswitch. I wish Marshall would hurry up and ship out more DSL's.

    Is Marshall behind in production?

My dealer told me there was some issue with the company that was making the printed circuit boards for the DSL amps. Apparently there is a new company, but who knows when DSL's will start arriving.
