    MA heads-- why so cheap?

Well, Marty was nice enough to fix me up with some nice NOS pre-amp tubes. After I get those, I will take the amp to my local music store and have them install the pre-amp tubes and swap out the power tubes too. I don't have the knowledge to set the Bias but they do. I'm lucky in that I have...

    The Dad

Thanks for such a great reply, full of good info. Yes, I see this now, my son's Marshall combo is 4 Ohms and right now, since he does not have the new head yet, he's running that into the 1960 cab. Clever design on the cab, but I'm not too big a fan of the switch box setup. Seems to be...

These people need to be shot!

I work in Topeka where they are based, I see them all the time. The good thing is the locals know to just ignore them. They want confrontation, the leaders kids are lawyers, they live for news coverage. Just like trolls on forums, pay no attention.

    MA heads-- why so cheap?

I picked up a MA50H for my teenage son. He's main instrument is a Bass but he's been getting into playing guitar lately. I was looking for an entry level head with tubes and this one seemed like a good idea. He seems to be very happy with it which is the main thing I suppose. However, If...

    16 gauge conversion

I decided to upgrade the wiring too. When I took the back off the wires looked so thin. I'm sure it will be more of a placebo effect but I feel a little better. Plus, my 13 year old daughter likes to do anything to do with electronics so I had her do all the work. She removed the back, cut the...

    The Dad

Thanks for the heads up about the impedance, I was a little confused at first. After I had the amp on the top of the cab I could see how to hook it up. The Amp is 16 Ohms so I slid the switch to 16 on the cab. I'm still a little confused why you'd go with a mono 8 for left and right, but...

    The Dad

Well, I did get the advice I was looking for in another section regarding a cab for our amp. My son and I went last weekend and picked it up from a guy on craigs list. Actually it's in very nice shape, I have some pics here: Marshall Amp Forum - Peaty's Album: New (to us) cab and new head...

    Cab suggestions for MA50H

Well it seems obvious now how to plug it in to the amp. I just went from the 16 -16 mono. I took some pictures after I gave it a quick wash down with some simple green and wet sponge. Cleaned up nice, I've also fixed the few tares in the tolex with some wood glue. Looks good, I let my son...
