Hey all. I have 2 early 80's marshall JCM800's. One is a 1959 and the other a 2204. I'm using an Alex Attenuator all set for 8 ohms. On the plexi i have both volumes running at 6 and on the 2204 the Master at 5 and the pre at 5. There is a shit load of fuses in these. I also have an an...
This is a great EQ pedal endorsed by Paul Gilbert. It can be used as a nice boost but was designed as an "unboost" actually. It's very effective at cleaning up a crunchy distorted tube amp. Basically simulates rolling back your guitar volume but you can tailor the tone for brighter...

I bought this to put in a 1974 Marshall 4 holer but i just can't bring myself to drill the chassis! This is apparently the same circuit as the Metro Loop. I researched it and it's by-passable and transparent when engaged. Comes with the instructions. It was $70 so i'd like $50 shipped to...
yeah it sounds pretty dang close to plugging it into my 212 recto cab. It's not really any heavier than the original combo it seems.....although it is a bit bulkier. I wanted to get a logo but then i found out you need to drill to put it in and that freaked me out a little.
So i had a guy in canada design me a closed back combo for my JCM800 4104. I dropped in WGS ET65's and man, does it sound SWEET!!! Plenty of tight bottom. It sounds very close to running it through my 212 Rectifier cab. If anyone's thinking of doing such a thing i highly recommend it...
I have the same amp with new tubes (the Canadian version) and on 4 it is in crunch haven. By volume 8 on the bright channel i'm into 70's/80/s metal. Who knows what variables there are in the circuit year to year on these though.
Thanks for your time and knowledge Trace! Do you have a schematic that i could purchase for the above mod or is that something any knowledgeable tech could do. Of course i'd love to send my amp to you but being in Western Canada the shipping and brokerage fees are astronomical. Have a...

Hey Trace. I have a canadian one. It has 6 Filter caps, the pots aren't attached to the board, A LOT of fuses, and no 16 ohm tap. What are the other differences? Do you prefer the USA or the Canadian versions?
I have a Canadian JCM 800 1959. I think it's 1986. I also have a 2204. The 1959 just sounds MASSIVE!!! I find there's so many tonal varieties with jumping the channels etc. I have an Alex Attenuator but I also put in a PPIMV which i really like as well. The 1959 cranked and attenuated...
I'm really loving the tone of this but running my delay in front of the amp sounds pretty dirty. I'm thinking of getting a JCM 800 2303 and drop a loop in it. I really haven't seen any of these JCM 1959's so i'm curious what the going value is? It's in pear perfect shape other than a little...
Awesome Man! Thanks for the info. I'm going to try it to see how i like it. If i like it i think i'll still make a new combo cab with a closed back and leave it open where the tubes are. I use an Alex Attenuator so it gets HOT!!!
I posted this on TGP as well but i wanted to get the opinion of the Marshall experts. I have a JCM 800 4104 that i really like the sound of. I replaced the V30's thatwere in it with ET65's and it made a huge difference but I still much prefer it though into a 212 closed back cab. I'd like to...
Thanks all! I just ordered a Swamp and a Man O War as well as 2 Warehouse ET65's which i've heard great things about as well. I'll just sell whichever i don't like as much!
