I used the previous model (X3 Live) for a few years and was happy with the amp simulations and range of usable effects; however reliability became a big issue. Footswitches would not switch when used and patches and effects were changing randomly by themselves. This was the nail in the coffin as...
I did the same with my 73 Superbass at Marshalls. I had all pots and sockets replaced, a new impedance selector switch plus a few components and a new mains plug fitted as the bulgin plug was knackered and unsafe. I have all the original parts in a box stored away. As this is my main amp and I...
I gig regularly with two bands (about 70 a year) and I do have the odd gig or two where I struggle with solos through lack on musical inspiration, almost to the point of not being able to play. Extremely frustrating!!!!!
I was using a line 6 POD X3 Live into a 74 Superbass, sounded ok(ish) but ditched it and went for seperate pedals, this made a huge difference. It puts a smile on my face every time I gig.
Thanks for the info, more food for thought. Just a quick question, why do think Fender provide a bias voltage test point (measure in mv) if in reality you still need to measure plate voltage and calculate bias based on 65% -70% dissipation. I thought the idea would have been to make valve...
I now this Marshall forum but I have a technical question regarding a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. The other guitarist in my band purchased the Fender off of Fleabay and within about a month or so needed re valving. The said amp was taken to the repairer that he uses and came back a few days later...
A stunning evenings entertainment, highlights were Satriani, Malmsteen and Gilbert. Paul Gilberts tone was awesome. As mentioned in a earlier post Brian Tichy's drumming was outstanding. Just hope Marshall release a DVD
Ive just picked my 1974 superbass up from Marshall following a revalve and minor service (cost about £160) and must say I am really pleased with the service they provided. Gigged the amp for the first time this weekend since getting it back and it sounds 10 times better than it did beforehand. I...
Just thought I'd feedback on my Marshall experience. Dropped the amp into Marshalls service centre for a full re valve and service. I couldn’t believe the price when they rang to give me a quote prior to starting work, talk about cheap, I thought they had missed the labour and tax off but was...
I did wonder about dirty pots, I dont normally jumper the channels. As i dont live far from the Marshall factory I'm going to drop ito into their service centre for a revalve and general going over.
