My Tweaker 40 also had its PT go kaput. Considered just going the Mercury Magnetics way. However, I spoke to Blad @ Egnater...on the first try, too! Looks like they have issued an update for Tweaker 40s-combos in particular. Involves an upgraded PT and a fan. Sounds as if newly made amps...
Of the Asian built counterparts to US made guitars, I have found (IMO, at least) that the PRS SE line tends to be superior in looks, feel & overall fit & finish. Great guitars for "working player" prices.
EP Booster should probably stay out front. I know mine acts as my "go to 11" pedal for both clean & dirty tones.
As mentioned earlier, a good, clean & quiet EQ pedal might be better as an FX loop inserted boost.
FYI-MXR is a division of Dunlop, so the MXR DC Brick is still a Dunlop product. They simply rebranded the Dunlop Brick w/ the MXR name when it was revamped.
I use the newer MXR DC Brick to power all pedals in my sig save for the Whammy. Whammy is the only one that has been noisy using daisy...
The 40 watt Tweaker head & combo have a +4/-10db switch on the FX loop (along with "spill over" of verb/echo FX when turning the loop off via footswitch). I'm going to assume this was among the various additions they made when the higher powered Tweakers came to be.
I have a Tweaker 40 with...
Maybe I am the minority here, but my off-the-shelf BOSS Super Chorus sounds just fine to me. It's digital? Not True Bypass? Sorry, but you have confused me for someone who gives a damn. ;)
In the end, your 2 ears are the only judge that actually counts (alongside your bank account, of course).
Ed did not move away from Peavey....they dumped him from what I heard (via a former Peavey executive - and a former employer of mine - who was based @ the Meridian, MS HQ at that time).
Ed started hand striping the first Charvel Art Series guitars (which were in many cases auctioned off for...
Yeah, it is a rather sweet LP workhorse. Lovin' the tones! Has a "50s" neck style, but with a satin finish. Sucker is FAST and just the right amount of chunky feel. I work for GC & played several Studios that we had on clearance (i.e - would have cost me as an employee a bit more than the...
Picked this one up last week. The "cheap" Gibson, but for around the same price ballpark as a top of the line Epi.....well, you can still feel/hear the difference between a Nashville made LP & its Chinese cousins.
On another note, it seems this one was destined for me.....the included Gibson...
Or Iron Maiden's Steve Harris, oddly enough. Although not sure his tone is exactly "vintage" (vintage metal, maybe)
ROTOSOUND STEVE HARRIS SIGNATURE BASS STRINGS
Coated string claims:
"Easier on fingers" - Man up guitar players & build those callouses. If you need "slippery", use half wound/groudwounds and/or slap on some Fast Fret or another "string lube/conditioner" substance.
"Last Longer" - if you play regularly to a lot, your guitars & your tone...
The Korean-built FRT1000/2000s are built & use materials very similar to the German Schallers. Definitely better that the Chinese "Specials" or other knock offs. I would imagine it will work fine & take a good amount of abuse.
Of course there is - actually there are a few. And here I go off on...
I used to own a 1960B cab that was purchased from a sound rental company in SoCal. The cab had previously been used onstage during the 2 David Lee Roth tours Steve Vai did. Cab was purchased "as is" - i.e. an empty cab with a piece of black spray-painted cardboard behind the speaker grill...
"My relationship with Jerry Harvey and his products goes back to the '01 Rolling Stones tour where we were exclusively using his legendary UE7 ear pieces to outfit the entire band and crew. Since then, we have worked, consulted and discussed every element of his in-ear monitor engineering you...
While not currently on my pedalboard, I have & like the 78. If for no other reason, it is very touch sensitive & cleans up well when backing off the gtr volume. It is also a dirt box that does not suffer/cover up bad playing technique.
Also have the Modified OD, which was my boost pedal before...
Recently picked up the Xotic EP Booster. The C5 LOVES it - in fact, to my ears it does much of what some of the C5 mods would do to the amp. A tad tighter - and more useable - bass, and some brightness the amp lacks on its own. Not to mention, a great overdriven sound when cranked. In fact, in...
