Not having enough clean vol doesn't make sense for that amp of yours. Jimmy Page used that amp for the reunion tour because it's the loudest 30 watter out there. On channel 1 with the master cranked and the EQ flat, you should be able to bring up the gain to get the volume you need long before...
Here's some good info-http://tubedepot.com/cel.html
I find a combo with a vintage 30 for mids and a cab with G12T-75's for lows and highs work well together.
If you buy the same kind of tubes as the ones you are replacing (same batch if you're lucky), you may be safe, but, changing brands definitely require a bias.
Titanium saddles for Strat? I just got Graphtechs. Damn, I feel GAS coming on.
My 1936 has the G12T's but I think I have someone suckered into trading one of them for the V30 in his Traynor combo. He's a metal player, and he heard the 75's give more chunk and less honk. The combination should...
I've got the 3203(same era 30w hybrid) and a JCM800 2x12 for $500. I thought I got a good deal. Your ss head might not peak much interest, but the 4x10 is the right cab for my head and all the mid-80's mini stacks. Very cool!
Fender VibroChamp XD. 5w as opposed to the Super's 15w. 15 watts is not bedroom levels. My band just did a lake party with a 15w 1x12 and a 30w 4x12 for the guitars unmiked, and they kept up with the drums and vocals going through 800 watts of monitor and 1200 watts bi-amped for the mains.
I...
I prefer a Digitech Bad Monkey to the Tubescreamer because it has high and low controls as opposed to just a tone.
But yeah, they both give you an extra "channel", be it as an overdrive, or as a clean boost.
Send from the amp your guitar is plugged into to the return of the second amp. That way, you still have your MG's channels and power amp, and just the tube power amp from the second amp.
I have an Artist 30 which is Marshall's first attempt at a hybrid. It has a solid state 2 channel preamp...
My '03 MIM has just about got the frets wore out. My buddy's USA gets played as much or more, and his frets are fine.
MIM bridge pickups are dirty. JB Jr. with coil tap fixed that!
2x12's are a little more directional. You might have to angle it up at your head, but you should have all the volume you need. And yeah, Oranges are sweet!
