    Marshall's history has changed....

It's just odd as they used to openly state that Dudley was involved. Jim even says this in his book 'Father of Loud. Why would they suddenly remove him and basically put Terry in his place? I don't think Terry got involved with the amplifiers.

    Marshall's history has changed....

Not sure how many of you are familiar with Marshall's history, but a guy named Dudley Craven was heavily involved at the beginning of Marshall amps, however they appear to have written him out of their history..... https://marshall.com/about/marshall-history

Simple Attenuators - Design And Testing

If they're already over spec then actually it may not be an issue. Reason I ask is, I'm going to use a Hammond 1444-972 chassis which isn't very thick and won't be suitable as a heatsink. So if I use these chassis mount resistors then I need to really go by the 'Watts with no heatsink' rating to...

Simple Attenuators - Design And Testing

I'm getting parts together for your M2 build and am wondering about the rating of R2A and R2B. Is 50W necessary? Does R2A get warm at all in your build John? And how do R2A and R2B work together? I worked out that in parallel they give you 10Ohms, but I'm perplexed as to how they work with the...

Simple Attenuators - Design And Testing

Just wanted to say a quick thanks for starting this thread. I've been working my way through the posts and have learnt a LOT! Very informative and incredibly valuable information in here! I plan on building myself one of your M2 attenuators when I get time. In the meantime I've got my custom...

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

I found the low end of the Creambacks to be quite......vague. No definition at all with my amps but then again I probably wasn't pushing them hard enough. I much prefer how the low end of the Heritage Speakers breaks up. What we must also remember is I believe Celestion have changed the...

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

Thought I'd report back here as I hate leaving a thread unfinished. I went to Zilla Cabs in England and tried out one of his 2x12s with Creambacks in it. I tried both the Fatboy (normal 2x12) and Super Fatboy (Oversized 2x12, similar to my Marshall 1936), both had Creamback G12Ms in and I must...

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

This is all true with regards to break in but they did lose the ear piercing high end a bit before I took them out and I still didn't like them. Thinking back, they did have quite a lot of low end and they sounded better when I removed the back panel. So perhaps they're just the wrong speaker...

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

Guys I've been thinking. I reckon these Creambacks are faulty. I tried them again tonight and they are no longer ear piercing but the distortion is really harsh. Also with regards to the brightness my Trainwreck Express has a bright switch which I usually have on but I tried both positions with...

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

Yeah I saw that. They're reasonably priced too, but I'm wondering if I should just go for the real thing, i.e. Celestion G12M Heritage Speakers. I'm also considering a cab change but it turns out the 1936 is actually quite a large 2x12 cab already. Most other 2x12s are smaller.

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

Thanks man. I think its going to be between the Greenback RI and the Heritage G12M. They both have pros and cons when compared to an original Pre Rola Celestion. As I'll always attenuate my two large amps by at least 6dB the power handling won't be an issue. I'm just rather cautious now about...

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

I think I'm going to look at the Celestion G12M Heritage. As I always play attenuated the power handling won't be an issue. You're right Woods about the audience not caring about the tone but you should still care about your tone. If you don't like the sound of your rig then you're not going...

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

Before I installed the Creambacks I had Eminence GB12s which are supposed to be pretty close to Greenbacks except I find they have a big bottom end that can get quite boomy at times. The bottom end also stays quite clean and doesn't distort much like a Greenback will. Its not in a horrible way...

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

Dam, shipping is $111 for the Scumbacks and duty/tax will be on top of that. Man I think those speakers would be perfect as well.

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

Well I just took the back off the cab and can confirm these speakers are made in the UK. So sorry about that! I also just tried playing through the cab without the back on and its a huge improvement. If I put the back of the cab on then it just sounds crap to my ears. The high end dominates the...

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

Certainly is. I'm going to put the old speakers back in tomorrow to compare again.

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

I'll have to look at the sticker later on when I can take the back off. I thought UK speakers said Made in England on the back and China made speakers had Celestion International on them. As for the wiring I redid the wiring in this cab so I can go between parallel and series wiring. I must...

I took a photo of them before putting the back on :).

Hmm mine have Celestion International written on them.

    Celestion Creamback G12M-65 Bright

Hang on, are your Creambacks UK made? As production has been moved to China now which are where mine came from. I also know the design changed slightly a few times the first year they came out.
