    The death of the 4x12

    Gigging, 1x 4 x 12, or 2x 4 x 12, or 3x 4 x 12 etc depending on venue. About 16x 4 x 12's in the stable at the moment. I might be "old" but I ain't dead yet LOL.

    AVT 150 blown output

Yep, question is, why don't my boards have AVT150 on them? The output section on the 275 is stereo while the 150 is mono. Not many amps in bridged output mode will handle 4 ohms. I think I had better do some circuit tracing. Not my favourite pastime on solid state stuff LOL

    AVT 150 blown output

Michael at Marshall has sent me the actual AVT150 schematics but sadly this schematic has not the output board/power amp schematics with it. I have sent him my pics of the output stage for "verification" and if any "mods" are required....just in case. I will share the schematics with anyone who...

    AVT 150 blown output

Due to the fact that there are only a few components on the output modules I have decided that it would be good policy to replace the lot. No future headaches that way. Hopefully LOL. I have also requested a schematic from Marshall. Be interesting to see how/if they respond.

    AVT 150 blown output

No, not actually back together yet. Held up helping a friend move house. All other components on the board's test fine. I did a limiter test with the modules out and no problems with anything else. Pre-amp stage works as it should. My analogue meters are totally analogue including the old...

    AVT 150 blown output

There are no diodes on any schematics I have and could not find anything on the 'net. Both boards have the identical changes. Not a mention of these changes anywhere on any forum or tech pages. VERY curious as the boards seem to be factory items. It is very easy to check diodes with an analogue...

    AVT 150 blown output

I have just added the extras to the schematic. I will take a pick and post.

    AVT 150 blown output

I bought an AVT 150 with blown output. Pre-amp stage works perfectly. Anyway removed the chassis and checked the output boards and one had obvious signs of being blown. Removed both output boards and replaced both amp chips. Question: were there variations in the output module boards as mine...

AC30's What Do You Like ?

I have this same model with a pair of Jensen speakers. Sounds "bloody" awesome. I don't use it for gigging though, mostly use one of my Marshall's. "71 Major, TSL 100, dsl 100, Silver Jubilee 100. 50 watters are JCM900, 2 x MA series and Origen 50 and a few solid state and hybrids. (only used...

Soft Blues Tone with Marshall 2555x

It certainly a great combination. Marshall 2555x and 1971 Marshall Major is the main combination I also use with a DSL 100H backup amp. For a "grumpy" old bloke the sound I get from my rig makes me smile :) .

Another 70s amp from the Antipodes: Holden VBA 100 (tenuous AC/DC connection)

Truly great amps. I have 2, the 100 watter and the 200 under the Wasp name. They won't be for sale anytime soon (touch wood) lol.

What ODs Are You Guys Using in Front of Your Marshalls

A big muff with Marshall Major, DSL, TSL, MA , Origen and 9000 series power amp and preamp. Very pleasing to the ear. The MA and Origen are 50 watters, about my smallest amps except for the Vox AC30. I don't like to much distortion and what I can dial in on the Big Muff is great, to my ears...
