I used to listen to a lot of these. Great thread. Here's two more:

And one of my favorites (love the intro guitar):

Both were great bands! Thanks for posting these.

This was my favourite Icon track:

Stone Fury anyone? Very 1980's chorused compressed guitar tone...

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hynC3Fawhwo[/ame]

...and of course fairing a little better than the above were Danger Danger... classic first album with Andy Timmons on guitar... well sort of.. he was on the back cover and re-recorded the solos some tracks... but it was written by Ted Poley and Al Pitrelli. Nice Timmons solo if you like him... gush! I think Ted Poley is a great singer.. his later solo stuff is cracking..

Come on guys there is a ton more... Helix, Tuff, Black n Blue.....!

I'm gonna take a look at my vinyl collection now,
since I've got nothing better to do.
I'm sure there's a few obscurities hiding... :)
How's this for a start?

This is a strange 12" single that I've got.

:wave::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Ok you guys had it coming!!
HELIX....(Canada your fault) if you want to know why they disapeared into the mists of time and 80's fog... watch this shite and you will understand that after passing the age of 7 years, this sort of music just isn't funny anymore..:lol:

Ok that was unrepresentative.. I liked them because usually they played happy, poppy, metal...
They have a real thing for Hammers.... more in this video... a guitar that changes on each clip... and some cute girls... yup... classic music video on a budget fare.

These guys probably came out in the early 90's, but had the 80's vibe. The guitarist is fucking amazing and the singer was a very wycked Geoff Tate style voice.

I'm not sure.
Virgin Steele. Obscure here in the states, but big in Europe.

That's my good friend Frank on drums.

About as far south in Alabama as you can go withou
Here we go... obscure 1980's acts or early videos of established acts.

Get your pink Charvels out..

Warrior... Fighting For the Earth:

YouTube - Warrior "Fighting for the Earth" MCA Records

Q5... with Mr Floyd Rose on guitar!!!! Yes the one and only! Obviously his trem system business took off faster than the Q5 band! Still have the this record on a black disky thingy made from oil.

YouTube - Q5 - When the mirror cracks

Warlock Hellbound... yes I was 16 and at this gig!

YouTube - Warlock - Hellbound (Live Steel At Donnington 1986)

Early Queensryche Queen of the Reich:

YouTube - Queensryche - Queen Of The Reich

Autograph Turn Up the Radio:

YouTube - Autograph - Turn Up The Radio (Music Video)

Happy remembrance of the old or 'nearly' forgotten.

John you always find the best stuff man....thanks

I had never heard of them, I will have to hunt out their albums now, you were not kidding with the guitarist, I was not expecting the little funk thing in there too... cool mate.

John you always find the best stuff man....thanks

 Cheers Chuck, :hippie: Yes to kick off the thread Warrior and Q5 were the ones that first popped into my head as really typical of some good music that did not achieve great success and got lost in the mists of 1980's hairspray...

Ad., did your mate Frank always play with Virgin Steele or has he just got the gig? I remember them in the fog of old age, but never bought an album of theirs.:)

Guys there is some great stuff in here, with threads like this I open it up in another tab and read other threads.
I play video after video like a background playlist and see a few bits of the videos or good ones, the full thing if solos catch my ear.... this is a rocking thread.
Also do not worry if you go into the early 1990's for these bands to have an album out in 90/91 they will have been putting out stuff for a decade before!!!
You know how overnight success is built on a decade of hard graft!
