Amp Settings

Here are two different amp settings you might like to try. I think these are pretty close. Guitar is straight into amp with no FX. OD channel.

AC/DC GAIN=3 TREBLE=7 MID=7 BASS=7 REVERB=0

Deep Purple GAIN=7 TREBLE=5 MID=6 BASS=5 REVERB=0



Does anyone have settings they want to share?

pretty close to your settings, master on 3 if nobody is around
below 3 it starts droping out.

My 900 Settings are alot different.

(Gov'ner II through effects loop for bass/sub end boost)

Hi guys, can you help...

I have searched and searched the web for famous players amp settings that I can add to my recently aquired JMP-1, and cannot believe there are so few (almost none!) sharing these tones.

Is everyone really that secretive over there tone findings or have I just purchased something that nobody owns anymore?!?!

I can remember years ago ol' Geoff Whitehorn and Phil Hilbourne of Guitar Techniques magazine (showing my age now...lol) both using JMP-1's to create the sounds of the guitar gods....sometimes giving away the tone settings.

Thanks for reading my waffle, and I look forward to hearing from anyone that could help.

I have the JMP-1 and agree there doesn't seem to be many patch settings out there.

I remember the guitar techniques settings, but found most of these work best when going direct with the JMP-1.

When it comes to using the JMP-1 in a live situation the pre programmed settings sounded awful, way to much top end so I've done the following.


JMP-1 into Digitech Studio Quad V2 All mono.
Then use one side of a Marshall 9100 power amp,Voicing B, into a Marshall 1922....... 2 x 12 cab.

Jmp-1 settings for rhythm are:
Vol...12
Gain..15
Bass..4
Mid....0
Treble..-3
Presence....-3
OD/1
No Effect or maybe a splash of reverb
Bass Shift off

For Lead I use the same settings as above, but up the gain to 19 and push the treble up a couple of notches.I also add some delay.


This seems to give me a nice crunchy Rhythm tone with a fluid lead.

I've tried a few different pickups on my main guitars an Ibanez RG, namely Seymour Duncan TB4, I've used a stock Peavey wolfgang (Korean model), but the one I find works the best is an old Les Paul copy I've had for 30 years equiped with a dimarzio super distortion pickup.Controlled top and serious bottom end.All done via the guitars volume.

I have found the top end needs to be tamed on this amp.

Gain 20
Volume 2 - 4 When I'm just practising, but sometimes when I'm just being awesome I crank it up to like 5 or 6 (50watts mode)

I get a really nice tone for old school thrash, got the right mix of highs and lows happening, and a nice bit of saturation going on, no pedals whatsoever, EMG HZ H4 open pickup in bridge, agathis guitar body.

Tubes:
Power: Groove 6L6 Blue (IE Sovtek 5881WXT)
Preamp V3 JJ Balanced ECC83S (High gain) V2 National 12AX7A V1 JJ ECC83S (High Gain)

Hope that's helpful to anyone seeking an old school thrash tone.

I sometimes boost it with Boss SD-1 or Digitech Bad Monkey. Chorus for cleans and Delay for solos and some other stuff.

Presence: 1.4
Treble: 5.2
Middle: 2.4
Bass: 5.5
Master Volume: around 3
Lead Drive: 7.2
Rhythm channel volume: around 3

I dont think that settings are relevant putting up!! since very amp is different + there are SOOO many variables,,,,pick ups, wood of guitar, speakers, wood of cab ecc it will all make a difference, its no use trying a setting on my 2203 that someone said is like the slash tone if he tried it on a 900 with different pups, guitar,cab ecc !!!

LOL I agree, but it's interesting to me how everyone seems to have such different settings! On my DSL for stage/rehearsal volume most controls are around 5 except the mids are 10 and the presence about 3. That gives a good compromise on both channels and cuts through the mix well. But on a DSL pretty much ALL the settings sound good even though the EQ is way more responsive than on my old Fenders and Music Man.

yeah i got some settings... but i'm not trying to get "that sound" i adjust to my likings only

i play a les paul standard with ernie ball's .012's/.056's in standard tuning

footswitch is programmed as follows:
1, clean channel green orange or red (switching the modes constantly)
gain 3.5
treble 7
middle 5
bass 6

2, crunch orange
gain 10
treble 8
middle 6
bass 4

3, crunch red
same settings as above

4, OD1 orange
gain depending on volume (at high volumes i tend to set the gain lower) overall around 4.5
treble 7.5
middle 5
bass 7

5, OD2 red
gain depending on volume, but at around 3.5
treble 8
middle 6
bass 8

6 masterswitch
master 1 at around 5
master 2 one point higher then master 1

presence and resonance at around 4, depending on where to play

every channel has the FX-loop engaged (because of the noise gate i use) and a little bit of reverb (around 1.5)
