Mmmm....several cabs have been magical depending on the venue.

Guitar -

1. Marshall 1960a with wood back, sealed with caulk, metal handles, roll on lining, and loaded with G12H30's. I was playing a Marshall PLexi and a LP. Sounded amazing at a medium/large venue.

2. Carvin open back 1x12 with Greenback. I was running a 16 watt Vintage Carvin amp with mods done. Straight in to the amp, no fx. It was mic'd when we were playing a large hall (2500 seats). For some reason the stage was so "live" that the amp just sang!

3. Custom built cab with 2x12's and 2x10's. They were in an x pattern, and the top two (one of each size) were open. The bottom was closed. I was running a bassmaster head. The cab was loaded with Fanes. Vintage goodness.

BASS -

1. Custom built cab with a front loaded/sealed JBL 15" and a ported rear loded EV 15" - No horn. I was running an Ampeg B-15 cranked with a P bass....Grrrrrrr!

2. 2, read that TWO, Ampeg 8x10's (vintage, no horns, 50 watters) running 2 (TWO!!) Vintage ampeg SVT's run together. It was at a 1500 seater. I believe that this was a religious experience....I"M SAVED!

3. Currently I am running several cabs, but my go to is....

A Marshall 1960a with 4 different speakers. 1xHellatone 60, 1x Hellatone 30, 1xWeber Thames, 1x 75. I bought it off of a poster here on the forum, and he did the mods. I have added metal handles....very cool sounding.

Ah...mammaries. I mean memories.

A fun cab to play through was a beheringer 4x12 stereo cab.
The top two speakers were tilted slightly to either side.
BUT what I really liked was the extra breakup the cab put into the sound. the speakers where italian made and had a warmish sound. The sound reminded me of 70's tone from the time when 'Fonzie' was the baddest dude.

The best is obviously the peavey PA cab.

My absolute favourite was a Mongotone solid ribbon figured mahogany 4 x 10, beautiful cab and very open sounding. Why did I sell it? I really don't know... I'm still kicking myself! Next my old 70's Orange 4 x 12 that I refurbished. I fitted 2 old g65's that I bought off Aynsley Lister (great young brit blues guy) and 2 G12H Annis... awesome tone and punch.

I have an old 1973 Marshall cab with a plywood back panel loaded with blackback H30's. This has been my favorite cab for the last 20+ years. With that said, about 4 years ago I got a Cameron 4x12 that was made out of 3/4 birch ply and has a straight front baffle. The cabinet sounds better than any other cab I've heard. I like it so much, I ended up getting a total of 4 cabinets. All cabs are loaded with H30's (2 cabs with Anniversary H30's and 2 cabs with blackback 30's).

My Avatar "Vintage" Style open back, with 4 G1030's, with the bottom panel splitting the difference for a little better low end.

Rivera cabs are top notch. I picked one up and loved it so much I had to to get another. They are pricey new but can be had in the used market for a premium. Check one out and I think that you will be pleasantly surprised.

1960TV , I find them to sound warmer than most other Marshall cabs though I would like to try one of the Handwired cabs as I have read nothing but positive about them

I've played through all the currently produced Marshall cabs and for me, the clear winner is the 1960AX! It just sounds great, no matter what amp you play through it. I've never played a really old one unfortunately. Hopefully, I'll be able to play or even better, own one sometime.

The best all rounder that works will all my units is the humble 1936 loaded with Chinese V30s. Can't go wrong :yesway:

The sweetest is a cab from '69 loaded with Pulsonic greenbacks, matched with a '69 50 watt plexi.

..... Mutt's cab from '74 with a greeny and creamy is nice too :)
