Bugera had a solution for that as well: The Trirec. Discontinued already many years ago, but sometimes you see them on the used market for little money. Last one I saw was broken through. Makes you think whether you want a complex amp from Bugera :-/ Where I live, we only trust the Japanese and the Germans to build complex machinery...

Honestly the mesa 3CH DR is built and designed horribly. I wrote a few posts about its shitty design.
Reliability wise compared to the bugera I say they are both a ticking bomb.

Sound wise however the mesa is a force to be reckon with.
In that video the mesa eats the trirec for breakfast.

Outside the biased youtube world the mesa is just unbeatable.
When you crank that puppy up(Is my american slang stuck in the 90's:hmm:? could be, we adored USA here in the 90's).
The walls are shaking and the low end thump on drop tuning is really unbeatable.

you can here my sweet DR thump here on 0:51:

here in the "holy land" got the 1990 for 480$ and we can do installments here so divide that over 3 months and it's nothing.
The 6262 I got for 550$ with installments as well.
Oh so it's official they have discontinued.

That's not a sin, that's a blessing.
I got one also and it is a monster. never gonna let it go!

Forgive me forum members as I have sinned again...
The 1990I Arrived:cheers:
New from the box.
It comes with shuguang 6L6 badged as 5881.
IT sounds great!
After preamp tubes change in V1 & V2 it sounds even better.
I wouldn't say it sounds like an JCM900, it sounds like a different creature.
Less crunchy but much more balls and gain.
Maybe because it has 6L6 in it.

A great amp on it's own and for that price you can't go wrong.
I think the 6262 sounds better but unplayable in bedroom levels.
This one sounds great at low volume(because it is a basically a big distortion pedal:rolleyes:)

The price to what you get ratio is ridicules.
No other tube amplifier at this price level sounds this good, period.

1990.jpg

Clips as promised(loadbox, played the same riff as the 6262 recording) :

I would love to. One problem though.
A quad of 6550 will cost me almost two thirds of what I paid for the amp:)

I can’t stop hearing Bowie’s starman intro in your clip😱..
Could be in my sub conscious it is one of my favorite bowie songs.

I couldn't resist so I tried with a new production EL34 Mullard quad I have,
What do you think? which sound better? I tend to like the 6L6 more.

6L6:

Probably I prefer the 6l6 too but maybe in a mix would be different depending on how dense it is.
The el34 sounds less merged together but I listened with a phone..

With both the amp is very clear and those 6th intervals are detailed sounding

Bowie always had avant- guarded arrangements and guitarist
There’s an even more impressive guitar work in his very latest album, also some David Torn looping

yes it sounds glorious at high volume. I just still find it hard to believe you get this sound at this price level.

BTW grab one it is cheaper than eating at a restaurant these days:agreed:
It's interesting that these are hard to find now.

Ahmmm...
I just grabbed new 1960 Infinum at clearance 500$
This will be my last bugera. honest!!! :D
They are so cheap I can't resist!!!

Fired it up crazy hum.
looking at the back, power tube failed light.
Shut it off.
Tried to fire it up again, now power light blinking and POP!
Big flash of light, big pop sound at speaker and silence:confused:
Amp does not power.

I had a spare Shuguang EL34B, replaced the faulty one, replaced mains fuse, prayed the amp didn't die.
Power it up.... and.....
It roars!!! pretty harsh and loud as $***. it gives my superlead a fight in volume.
EDIT: just played them one after the other. no it does no give it a fight. the suprlead destroys it:) still loud as $*** though

let me tell you now... get one before it's too late.
They are discontinued.

I did a small very easy mod to put a standard MV in it.
And replaced the shitty bright cap with a proper mica cap.
Put JJ in V1 and this amp sounds as good as any new production superlead marshall.

With the cascaded mode and the master volume mod it sounds pretty damn close to a JCM800.

loadbox clip(kids asleep), first part straight in to cascaded input, second part with guv'nor in front.

20240720_133514small.jpg

20240720_13353small1.jpg

The led clipping mod I did sounds like crap, gonna replace the leds with 21V zener jose style see if it sounds good.
Don't really need it with cascaded mode and a boost pedal.

Nice score man. Congratz!!! They're heavy as fuk to carry too!

Beat the living shit out of mine at volume and it keeps going. I've had a power tube blow and replaced fuse and its been fine. I had a Bugera rep(tech)recommend value changes on the fuses but don't remember what they were. Id have to pop them out see what i did. Changed for both the 1990I & 60I.

Anyways the Infinium models can sound great without catching on fire. I've had a few amps throw a fuse on power tube blow outs. It happens. Enjoy!

I played that Bugera Tri Mec awhile back. It was at GC and was marked at $499 used. By the looks it should had been a Great Mesa Mark Alternative sadly it sounded like a over gainy mess with only muffle and more sizzle when eq'ing changing channels. Maybe it needed tubes or more time spent with it but at the $$$ I didn't see it as an option for me.

Probably. that's where they cut corners, tubes and very flimsy chassis.
People like the trirec, I never heard one in person.
From the videos I saw my dual rectifier eats it for breakfast.
It is no comparison. The trirec sounds sterile and thin compared to the real deal.
