If I bought a Gibson SG Standard or 61 RI with regular stop tail bridge, and wanted to modify it to add a Gibson Maestro Tremolo, would there be visible holes where the bridge was, or does it cover up fine?

Thanks for any help.

Just get the Angus signature model, its only a few hundred more than a standard and no screwing around trying to build one.

To answer your question: Yes, there would be visible holes.

The Maestro looks sweet, but in terms of functionality, it's crap.

You just have to play more gently to keep it in tune, and add some cork lube in the right spots.
who cares about holes? the gibson isn't going up in value anytime soon.

Yep.

It would be like taking off the round tires on your car and putting on a set of square tires because the look cool.

Save a few hundred more and get a vintage 60's! I've seen them go as cheap as a grand...but normally around $1500.

Sure thing:thumb:

Your best bet of having an SG with the tailpiece is buying one with it installed from the factory. Too bad they're so damn expensive.

You can always do what Derek Trucks did...keep the stop-bar but have the ornamental tailpiece plate on the body just for looks. Doesn't look too shabby

The vibrola arm is best to be held in the case.. It looks cool but I haven't found that much use to bend the strings out of tune. :)
