You got a pretty good price then...1960 Cabs are a dime a dozen.

I've bought two 1960A cabs since February for $200 each.

I bought a JCM900 SLX for ~$400, and after ~$200 in repairs (Tubes + Rebias), traded it for a VM2466 HalfStack. I then promptly turned around and sold both cabs for $450 / each after some minor repairs and such.

That basically makes the SLX free, which in turn, means I've effectively traded the 4 hours of labor I put into each cab and $200 ($100 + Gas to run around) into a LNIB VM2466 and a 425A Cab.

My next sights are gonna be set in a JCM800 Combo. Not sure if I'll trade the VM for it, or if I'm gonna keep the VM.

lol. I get up very early & watch CL daily. early bird & all that...:yesway:

I've also picked up a QSC USA400 power amp for $35 &
brand new Zakk Wylde ZW-95 wah for $15 in a thrift shop.

but a "decent" Marshall cab for less than $400 is a pipe dream around here.
even the MG 4x12's go for $250-$300 used.

I wont even consider a 1960 cab with tears in it

I usually sell them to a local music store for 300, then they mark em at 499, but they have to be mint

I usually buy a head and cab together then dump the cab to recoup some cash as Im not into cab collecting

I did have to drive a hour one way to deliver that cab.... that was the only way it was getting sold and I dont mind

The ones I purchased had a few tears in the tolex, but the tolex was "all still there". It's just a matter of sanding and retacking the tolex at that point. I bought one out of Pittsburgh and one out of Wheeling. I might still have pictures of me repairing the tolex to show you how I do it. The one in Pittsburgh had a small chunk of wood missing (maybe the size of a dime), which is an easy repair if you know how to do any type of woodworking and have good clamps.

The other thing is, you gotta be unafraid to state your "buy" price up front. If some guy in Jerkwater, WV has a beat up cab that you want, but his asking price is $300 - offer $200 and see if he'll bite. Be willing to drive and accommodate them. Sometimes people just want more than Guitar Center will give them on a trade. I generally try and offer what I figure is a few bucks more than they'll get on trade, especially if it's been sitting a while.

For those stating "you can't find them at this price"...

Had to drive 90 miles ....the guy said by the time I got there his phone was blowin up.

I had to "massage" this deal for a week
It was no super deal , but it was a '63 Junior ...well worth the hassle
The dude wanted near 2 grand, tried to pass that big ass Tommy Chong whammy bar off as orig equip , saying it had been on there since '65

I got him down to 1200 and got this b*tch set up , SCREAMIN
And ...it's a featherweight
I could care less about them little screw holes & the fade
