just been offered this cab for £180,
I'm tempted as I've just bought a JCM 2000 head and need a cab to go with it.
Get the head for £250 so a cab for £180 would be a very cheap package.
Any thoughts?
First post.
Cheers

Open the cab to see what speakers are in it and what wood the cab is made of. Celestion G12T-75 speakers and plywood cab is good. Off brand speakers and particle board cab is not good. Try the cab and make sure it works if you can.

Welcome

I just paid £90 for one. You can get them for £130 fairly regularly. £180 was definitely overpriced.

FWIW I really rate mine, its plywood with G12t-75

Sorry I read back my original post and didn't realise there was a typo.
I bought the JCM 2000 DSL 100 for £250.
So I'm now looking for a cab for it.
I have an AVT half stack at moment so could run the head through that cab but I've been told it won't sound as good as a 1960 cab. I can't find any locally second hand but there are a few of these 2x12s (1936 and 1922) but I have never used them or know much about them.
Thanks for all the help thus far guys.

A good price is around 180. 200 max in good condition imo.

I wanted £245 for my v30 loaded 4x12 cab but got a beat up 1936 and £100 instead from someone on gumtree, this about right you reckon or could i have pushed him for more? Lol

I take it the 1936 is just smaller than a 4x12 but the 1922 is smaller?

1922 is about 10-15% smaller than a 1936, yes!

Not a bad cab - not as much bottom end as a 1936, but smaller and lighter, and a good option where space is at a premuim, or as a 2nd Extension cab!

I'm not a fan of the 1922. I've used them with a few different amps and never bonded. Wanted to take advantage of the portability but no way, not at all.

Yes it is smaller. But it has much less room inside for the speakers to breathe which to my ears, compromises quality of sound. IMO a 1936 is a great sounding cab whereas a 1922 is not.

Dimensions in mm

2045 cab & early dimension transition era JCM800 1936 cab

Width - 737
Height - 584
Depth - 227

Current 1936 cab

Width - 740
Height - 600
Depth - 305

1922 cab

Width - 675
Height - 515
Depth - 260

I don't think the 1922 was designed to be a stand alone speaker box. I believe it was intended to be the extension cabinet to the JCM900 combo.

My early 80's JCM800 1936, ply cab, with one handle on top and loaded with G12-65's sounds pretty amazing hooked up to my 1987x.

Great cab. It is actually the remaining lumber from the 2045 model, which is the same box you have in the early transition jcm800 ERA 1936. Yours just has different speakers, no string bead and instead has switched to the newer Elephant style tolex. As an aside, the Levant tolex on the 2045 would match the 1987's RI tolex pretty well.

1922 is open back I think. No?

Not the ones I played. Of that I am sure.

An excellent sounding cab that works well as a stand alone IMO is the 1974CX which was the extension cab for the 1974x. It is a 1X12 and open back. It's got a bit more height than a 1922 but is an overall smaller footprint with it's size. I bet if the 1922 was fit with a 1X12 baffle in it's existing dimensions, it could be a great sounding cab. That said, I believe cabinets on the smaller side sound better with inefficient speakers and lower wattage amps. There also comes a point where a 10" is a better choice than a 12" for the box where it is intended to reside.
