Sounds great already, these things were never intended to be run like that but they do rock!
If you need help with parts let me know.

Thanks!

I asked Neil about carbons... he would check his stash. John how are you on the wrong capacitor electrolytes and presence cap and presence pot?

Best regards Plexi

Something does not seem quite right here, yes looks old and it properly is as the first ones and i mean the very first ones had heater wiring in red and black not white and black. The heater wiring looks like Dudley`s wiring as he done it in the same way, very neat.

I would estimate that it is roughly #10+

Thank you for your insight Ken, these early amps are fascinating.

Presence pots often get replaced because they sound scratchy (they have some dc on them) so people erroneously think that they are faulty (face palm), I only have x1 spare 1M of that type so no good for you.
That cap is it is 0.1uF brown box cap then it is correct (I can't see it properly in your pics).
The filter caps are probably as close as you are going to get to original (32uF 500v mains, 32/16 Screens PI and 16 preamp) assuming they work ok and your clips show a little ghosting under abuse but quite normal for these.

That amp sounds gorgeous. Just incredible. Very nice score, to say the least.
Hope you get all the parts you need, I am of no help on these old ones, but I sure enjoy the pictures. Just a great piece of history :)
I am glad that you got it, and will preserve it, and it won't just sit in someone's closet!

Soundboy!
I think you have a 4x12 cab that would match my amp! ;)

John!
Haven´t had time to take the amp apart but essentially I am looking for a
- 5k presence pot and
- inner big dual electrolyte
- One of the 0.1uF RS cap has a repaired leg and has drifted up to 0.5uf!!!

best regards plexi

Don't think I have a 5k pot, but will check.

Is the dual RS or Hunts? 16/32 I presume. Pretty sure I have a few of those.

Lots of the grey RS caps within spec......last time I looked anyway.

Thanks! The 16/32 is a modern one so either Hunts or RS I´ll guess. the other cap on top is a Huts old but I don´t think it is original according date.

Give me a pm.

Best regards plexi

I have two here, one measures 115nF and the other 350nF!!
I have some 50nF that measure between 60 and 100nF and a bundle of 20nF that also measure 20nF to 50nF. They are all the same grey with blue labelling at 500v. Might have to smile nicely at London John myself re the 16/32s:)
