Most secure strap locks

I use Schallers on all my guitars.

Those red rubber washers that come on Grolsch beer tops slipped over stock strap buttons work really well. Now I use Schaller strap locks and I don't get the thing about the screws loosening up, I've never had that happen.

Always have used Dunlop, never had a problem, ever, so I've never tried the others.

I've been using Schaller strap locks for over 30 years. If you pay attention to them and don't let hardware get loose, they'll never fail you.

I drill out the button by one screw size and use oversized extra length screws to anchor them to the body. I have to grind the outside of the screw head to make them fit.

And for the strap side, don't forget to use a little bit of locktite threadlocker on the securing nut.

Never had a button get loose or fail. They just WORK.

If the screw is too loose I stick a toothpick in the hole with some Elmer's wood glue and reinstall the screw.

I see they addressed the issue I mentioned previously with set screws. That's a good idea if it works. I'd stll stick with Dunlops though, I've just come to rely on them across the board. But I'm for any straplock that works, doesn't come apart and doesn't squeak.

Ive got both the new and old Schaller locks. Never had an issue with the old ones, but found with the new ones the grub nut works loose and Ive had to use a bit of lock-nut to keep them tight.

The new ones are more pleasing on the eye, but I prefer the older version.

$4.49 a set at Sweetwater.com. I have 4 sets in my Les Paul case. They are a bit to get used to. To get them off you physically have to pull up on the top part to clear the strap button, then slide it off. They work great.

What do you guys feel are the most secure straplocks?? Something you feel safe hanging your prized axe from when your hands are doing other things besides clutching your axe for dear life.

These buttons make locks obsolete. Still think you need locks? Nobody's beaten the Schallers and they're the least fugly, problematic and ridiculous.

Dunlop. They are great with heavy Les Paul's. And a Wide strap! I had to grind down the screw head a bit...a drop of oil on the balls, once a year, and a bit of Lock Tite on the Strap part...it is done, for good...and a tug on the strap when re-attaching. Done for the life of the strap.
