LOUD Awesome Marshall Cleans :D

I've never seen another one like these before in real life. I have seen the 1992 JCM 800 100 Watt Super Bass before but never the 50 Watt version. Are there any other users out here?

I bought it earlier this week for guitar. This doesn't feel or sound like any other Marshall I've ever played, yet it's very familiar and particularly organic. It's got a different tone stack with slope and mid sweep controls, no master volume. Tone is punchy and clear. Never thought 50 watt could be this loud.

It came with a JCM 800 1984A cab with four G12H-100's, 16 ohm.

Here are some pictures:

Does anyone here own one of these and could share their experiences with this amp?
Does anybody know how many of these were produced?
What were they officially named? Unlike the 1992 100 watt version, the 1986 doesn't say "Super Bass" on the back, it only says "MKII"?

Very nice!

6550’s or EL34’s?

It has EL34’s for now, its an European amp. I need to take it to an amp tech to get serviced anyhow, most of the pots are cranckling or hissing, it had been standing unused by the previous owner for quite some time.
I guess 6550’s would work great on this circuit and provide more bass and even more headroom, intresting idea..
Anyone ever compared EL34 vs 6550 on a JCM800 1986 or 1992?

Greets,

Congrats. I’ve never played the amp. I did have a JCM800 cab with those speakers. Sounded great until playing with a group. I thought they lacked mid range. Try them out for a while. You may like them.

Good luck with the new amp!

You have a beautiful selection of amps there, Welcome to the madness of Marshall, I can’t answer your question’s, but I at one time had the 2104 212 combo, and should have never sold it, as that is the tone in my head!
Cheers Mitch

Hi, new here. I have bought the same amp yesterday, the JCM800 bass series MK2 with 1935 cab. I think it was built in 1986, not sure though.

Gonna test it more extensively upcoming week as a guitar player. And throw a few pedal between the guitar and the amp.

I am curious about the controls, The slope and the mid frequencies.

cheers,

Gurbz

Tested my newly acquired JCM800 bass series yesterday, I think this one’s from 1986. Very clean and very loud, there were some annoying frequencies (harsh) that were really hard to dial out and it didn’t workout with pedals yet so I decided to take it to an amp repairman for a check.

Welcome to the Marshall Forum!

You’re probably better off starting your own thread for this than reviving a two year old thread. You’ll get more action.

The 800 1986 has very little in common with 1986 from 60s and 70s, which were basically same as a plexi.... but hnad anyway
