NAD, I recently picked up a new Marshall DSL40CR. Getting back into it after a while. I'm still trying to figure out my approach. It doesn't seem to want to play nice with my RP1000 going in to the effects loop return like my other Marshall and Randall Tube amps. I'm going to be exploring the Crunch Channel with a few pedals to push it when needed while rolling off my volume to clean it up.

I may also be looking for some different EL34's to try and tame her a little. It just don't have the sound and feel my JCM600 had.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to hanging out here again.

Later, Dega

I involuntarily tried some JJ EL34L power tubes and found them harsh. I switched to Mullard EL34s and they are much smoother.

I like a long plate 12ax7 in V1. Many disagree with this as they tend toward being microphonic but the tone is worth it to me.

I have a bag full of 12ax7 to go through. I'll have to research "long plate" to see if I have any to try.

Thanks for the advice!
