Hey ya'll, for those who have done this, how is this badge removed? Got the logo off, but this appears to be installed with two screws with no access to the heads without pulling off the gold label. I hope I don't have to ruin it...
Also, is the garden variety staple gun adequate to fasten down the cloth? Probably use it only once so don't want to spend alot.

the gold label is stuck on w/ adhesive. Easily pried off w/ a butter knife...

Nope, it may be glued (the gold metal label), but there is no gap to get under it. One must dig/gouge under it to get purchase. Then it will look like dog doo-doo. I'm using very thin blade screwdriver. Thinner than any butter knife I have.

Just to be clear DoD, the plastic block upon which the gold label is glued is screwed into the baffle with 2 wood screws, but you cannot access the screwheads unless the gold label is peeled/pried up?

Correct...

Pry your knife on the right side & work your way left. Just be careful. The brass isn't as fragile as you'd think. It's basically like a trophy/plaque plate. You could heat it up a little w/ a blow dryer to loosen the glue & make it pry up easier. It's just a matter of getting it started. Once you get to that point, it'll come right up...

Any advice on staple guns to use? Will a basic mechanical gun suffice for this job, as compared with a pneumatic gun? I really don't want to spend $$$ on a gun I'll use only once.

Ive never tried this, but if you lay the cab on its back and use some acetone on the top of the tag, maybe it will seep into the cracks and dissolve the glue? Warning: it might ruin the tag as well....so I'm just asking.

It was a craigslist find. $50 and it had speakers in it.they all needed to be reconed so I just sold them for $40. After new grill cloth, new red tolex, logo, and speakers I could have bought a used working 1960a cab for the same price....but where's the fun in that?

Plus I don't think you'd have found a 1960 in red!:applause:
