I have a tribute also but tobacco burst. Its nice but also a strat guy. Setups are a little tricky but I did buy a hardshell case for mine. I did actually join the les paul group on FB but those people are very unfriendly so I left them ! Thats is a different bunch of people. View attachment 112050
I love tobacco Burst! MD has a 2000 Standard in Tobacco Burst and it’s my favorite!

Thanks, guys! No regrets at all. Some ideas for the future like the 50's wiring and perhaps coil splitting, but I'm digging it as is. It's nice to have something >21 frets so that I can finally play some of that Gilmour stuff he did on his Bill Lewis... like Money without transposing epic bits of the solo down an octave... :)

So, without further ado (because I didn't buy the damn thing to snap pictures of it, but to play it), here's my new Gibson Les Paul Tribute:

Finish: Cheap, not the high gloss stuff you find in the more expensive models. No problem, just sayin'.
Pots: Feel OK, probably not the best, still need to take the covers off and see what lurks beneath.
Switch: Already dodgy, showroom model. Replace that soon.
Switch plate: For some reason Gibson doesn't mount these by default. I asked in the shop whether they had one, eventually they found a knock-off. Awesome... then I noticed Gibson do include it in the bag. Why it's not there by default, I have no clue. Really 'finishes' the look to me.
Pickups: Same as the Studio series. Very nice, actually.
Fretwork: Excellent, what I would expect from a decent Gibson.
Fingerboard: Little rough on the edges where it's glued to the neck. That'll wear down soon enough.
Body: Single piece of wood. Nice. Two-part top.

Comes with a very cheap strap that says Gibson, but in totally different writing. No idea. Ah well, pics or it didn't happen:

First pic is actually just outside the shop. ^

I must also say, the bag is pretty decent. I was expecting something flimsy like most Fender bags (still a Fender fan, nothing changed, guys...!).
Congrats!
the Epi 59 reissue came with hard shell case
Usa pups and many other features for $800
Finish on mine is really good

When I was looking through the store, there were some fairly nice Epiphones. Also all came with a hard shell case that I really liked, until I saw the inside was pink - and I don't mean a touch of pink, I mean full-blown Barbie. I guess there are those that dig it... Next guitar on my list is either a Casino or an ES-335, chances are those will be Epi's. We'll see what colour case lining they have by then :D

congrats on the Gibbie!
Its a fine guitar.
I was watching a Slash rockumentary and saw that Slash bought Joe Perry’s old LP cherry top and heard after many years Slash had, long story short Perry talks to Slash at party and said if you ever want to sell it back,,,,year later Slash gifted the gitar to Perry, case was pink interior. Cool f Slash to do that. I bet Perry leaves it yo Slash in his will.

I would spray some deoxit in the switch before replacing it. The Gibson ones are actually pretty robust and Ive never had one actually fail even with attempting the Randy Rhoads toggle tricks lol.

This is very true. The Epiphone I bought new last year had a garbage switch and terrible pots. The pickups were meh at best. Don't know if Epiphone has the switch craft 3 way in them or not these days.

My Custom Shop has a Barbie case and so does the 76 LP. Weird, I think...

That LP looks nice. Does it have the chunky neck...??

Coming from Fenders mostly I find a bit chunky, but not compared to other Gibsons, honestly. Takes a bit of getting used to, but I'm digging it. :yesway:
