Back from my winter vacation...and while in seattle...
Picked up a 2014 LP Traditional Pro in vintage sunburst
This model has locking tuners, coil splitting pups and a 10db boost
a 60's profile neck...and it has the top-hat knobs which
for some odd reason is a big deal to me...
I freaking LOVE this guitar! but I must admit it weighs a ton!
Sounds and plays like a dream and the 10db boost is
a really cool feature - works just like a clean boost pedal
only it's built into the push-pull on the neck pickup tone knob.
I can see myself using this feature live during solo's.
The coil split also sounds really good and there's less single coil noise
than a standard single coil pickup but there's also a slightly different tone.
Not as twangy as a real single coil IMO but imitates the single coil vibe
good enough for some Hendrix.
Open chords ring out without any string buzz, there is good resonance
unplugged - much louder than other solid body guitars I've played.
The finish was flawless aside from a small dent in the neck binding
close to the 2nd fret. (probably some punk dinged it in the store)
I don't regret shelling out $1800 for this beauty. GC gave me $200 discount off the $1999 sticker price - i tried to get them down to $1599 but they would NOT budge a penny below $1799 I managed to save another $200 because I was out of state and therefore tax free! I literally walked out with it for $1799
I would say in all honesty this is easily a $1200 guitar and the additional
$800 markup is for the Name on the headstock
as soon as I got home I changed the strings and put on chrome pickup covers
Pictures coming....
