My neighbor came up yesterday with his PRS Custom 24 (year was 2000). We had a great time jamming with the 6100 and 2203X. We messed around with his PRS and my Jackson Soloist, Clapton Strat and LP Classic. Seriously great tone was happening for sure!

I was really impressed with his Custom 24. Easy to play, stock pups had a warm tone and getting harmonics was a piece of cake. Comfortable guitar and it looks great. Really sounded amazing through the 6100 and 2203X!!!

Just sold my Ibanez RG1570 and now I have serious G.A.S. again. A Custom 24 could make a nice addition to the family!

Anyone else have a Custom 24? What year and what pick-ups? Please tell me your thoughts on this guitar and thanks!! :hmm:

I have one. I think it's a late 90's model. 10 top, wide thin, birds.
I like it a lot. I also have a custom 22 same options.
The 24 has a little more bite, 22 sounds more "round"
Ultimately, they didn't really work for my style. I pick very hard, and I broke a lot of strings with them.

It is by far the nicest guitar I own. Every time I play it I wonder why I didn't get one sooner.

Isn't GAS great and horrible at the same time?

I have a 1999 Cu24. Birds, wide-thin, trem, non-10 top.

The Cu24s started getting the HFS (Hot, Fat, Screams) bridge, and VB (Vintage Bass) neck combo in 1991 and have had that combo ever since until recently (last couple of years) where there are all types of pup variations.

The HFS/VB combo is great and with the 5-way switch can really nail some convincing LP-like and Strat-like tones. Not exact but close enough for rock'n'roll!!!

Best wishes on satisfying this GAS attack. There are some really great prices on used PRSi right now.

As always, IMO and YMMV.

I do not own a custom 24 or 22; but I do own a PRS SC245 with 57/08 pick ups, and satin nitro finish. I also have one of the new Studio models, with tremolo, 57/08 humbucker bridge, 57/08 narrow field neck, middle, pattern thin neck. They are the only guitars I own except for my Dad's old 1953 Gibson ES225T that he never played. None of them are 10 tops. I like imperfections.
