Meh. Mixed views on Mandela - although I think he was slightly more good than he was a nuisance.

He did condone necklacing, which is a barbaric act.

^The fact your post is getting liked is pitiful.

The fact that you seem to know nothing about him is what's pitiful.

He was good friends with Fidel Castro, Moahmar Ghadaffi, Saddam Hussein, just to name a few. And here's a nice quote of him.

"Long live the Cuban Revolution. Long live comrade Fidel Castro... Cuban internationalists have done so much for African independence, freedom, and justice. We admire the sacrifices of the Cuban people in maintaining their independence and sovereignty in the face of a vicious imperialist campaign designed to destroy the advances of the Cuban revolution. We too want to control our destiny... There can be no surrender. It is a case of freedom or death. The Cuban revolution has been a source of inspiration to all freedom-loving people."

He actually put Cuban Revolution and freedom-loving people in the same sentence.

Champion of peace and human rights, yet he was very anti-American and pro-dictators, a self-declared marxist, and a racist. But the media and movies say that he was a great man so it must be true.

well then i put it to you: what do you know about these people? ^ im betting what youve heard on the evening news for the last 20 or 30 yrs and not much else.

The Cuban Revolution (1953–1959) was an armed revolt conducted by Fidel Castro's 26th of July Movement and its allies against the government of Cuban President Fulgencio Batista. The revolution began in July 1953,[4] and finally ousted Batista on 1 January 1959, replacing his government with a revolutionary socialist state. The Movement organisation later reformed along communist lines, becoming the Communist Party in October 1965.[5] The Communist Party, now headed by Castro's brother Raúl, continues to govern Cuba today.

...

Fulgencio Batista, who had served as the elected President of Cuba from 1940 to 1944, became President for the second time in March 1952, after seizing power in a military coup and cancelling the 1952 elections.[10] Although Batista had been a relative progressive during his first term,[11] in the 1950s he proved far more dictatorial and indifferent to popular concerns.[12] While Cuba remained plagued by high unemployment and limited water infrastructure,[13] Batista antagonised the population by forming lucrative links to organised crime and allowing American companies to dominate the Cuban economy.[13][14][15]

hmmm...sour grapes? intelligence slush funds dried up, and the US never got over it. this is what the hub bub over cuba is all about.

i dont have the time nor energy to dig up a bunch of excerpts for you, but do a search on saddam and his ties to the CIA. to put it short, the CIA put him in power, funded his political party, (you know, the one we outlawed after the invasion), funded his war with iran, (while selling needed plane parts and weapons to iran at the same time).

iran contra thing....nicaragua? remember that? also a freind of mandella. and oh yeah, we sold saddam all kinds of nerve gas and other weapons (you know, surplus from vietnam and stuff, we dont need it anymore, but we can still make a buck on it, right?) used in iran and on his own people! the horror! the madman!

we funded him the whole time he was on his madman binge.

gadaffi, same story. french intelligence asset. he knew too much and he was getting too big for his britches, he wanted to keep libyas oil and gold. what a bastard. gotta die.

i dont think there are any good guys in these circles. but, since mandella was supportive of US secret services puppets, he must be a pc of trash too b/c thats the western narrative. ok.

where does that leave us as americans? blind loyalty? how do you reconcile these things?

Yep, so much so that Obama himself is going to SA to ensure he's actually dead. Former Presidents too according to CNN.

... Even Osama didn't rate so high ...
