Taking the day of over a NGD

How many of you have taken the day off from work and stayed home in wait when a new amp (or guitar) was scheduled to be delivered?

Nope. I have had stuff delivered to my office so it wouldn't sit out or miss me without a signature.

Without a job, I couldn't buy more gear.

I used to have stuff delivered to the office at my one job. I don't feel comfortable enough at this one to do that, so I'd just work from home if I felt it necessary to be there. But there's usually someone at my house most days anyway.

I haven't done it waiting on one to come in the mail but I have called in sick in order to go to a music store and buy some things.

My brother is the regional manager for a bicycle parts distributor, and his warehouse is right between work and home for me. I have stuff shipped there and pick it up on my way home.

I've actually never ordered gear before. Strings, picks and straps, sure. But amps, pedals, keyboards, speakers etc., no way. I prefer to take days off work to go shopping! Hands on, playing with everything before I buy it.

[ew... my statement should have been in the past tense... I guess I may be ordering things now...]
