Somewhere between Heaven and Hell !!!
I have both--the 5150 III 100w and the 5150 III 50w--they kick ass !!!
The 4x12 has the EVH (greenies) and the 1x12 and 2x12 has the 70th Anniversary Celestions. The tone stack of both amps is off the charts.
These amps can shatter windows !!!

Being a Marshall guy i am always very reluctant in trying amps that look like something else  . During the past year, i had the oportunity to fully test three of these things:

1) Orange Dark Terror: One trick pony that is worth to have if you play very small venues. That thing has balls, but you need to push it with something.

2) Mesa Mini Rectifier 25w: Apart from the Clean channel (which sounds great), it is a P.O.S. I would not buy it even for U$ 300 new. Congratulations Mesa on a great publicity department.

3) EVH 5150 III 50W: That´s it. My choice for a modern Metal amp. Extremely well balanced, silent (except for channel 3), good and nice cleans and a POWERHOUSE on channels 2 and 3. I actually like channel two more than channel 3. Sound more articulate and even heavier with the right settings. Sounds are all there, you do not need any overdrives or boosts in front of it. Trust me. What a beast!

I'm with you. Channel 2 is my favorite! Dial it in correctly, and not only is it heavy as hell but articulate, too.

6505+ will be coming home next time i'm cashed up

Hmmm, as a former owner of a 6505+, I'd push you to reconsider this decision and check out the 5153 instead.

I really wanna see someone compare the 6534 to the 5153. I'm not too big on the 5150 or 5150II (6505/6505+), but from what I've heard of this amp, it blows both of those away.

I can tell you right now, having had direct experience with all of these.

5153 > 6505+ > 6534+

The 6534+ is a try-hard Marshall, honestly. It's an American amp company trying to sound British. I didn't like it at all. I wanted to. I really did, but when I AB'd the 6505+ next to the 6534+, the 6505+ rocked it all day long. I know there are lots of people lauding the 6534+ as being a highly under-rated amp, but I personally think, after my experiences with the amp, that they are all full of shit.

That's why I was curious. I see everyone claim the 6534 smokes the 6505. Glad to see someone compared them both.

When it comes to underrated, you may disagree with me, but the XXX/3120 > 6505. :D

Honestly, I don't like the tones he gets from them. Sounds pretty damn fizzy and fuzzy.

Then again, he cranks ALL the knobs to 10. :

its all in the individual style, same amp & guitar will sound different with different players or dialed in different, hell even the same exact 2 amps can sound chalk n cheese

I have 4X12 Cab, used $381 GREAT shape local pick up. I have four boutique Amp heads by three builders, but not a full head and Cab set. I am presently trying to generate about $600 on Ebay selling average gear to help pay towards a EVH 5150 III head 50 W.

My GAS should be done with. I hope. Once my mediocre Amps are gone, there's no turning back. I will have a bunch of tone machines. All different. I'm selling two average Amps to help pay for one GREAT one. I've been doing this all year.

I don't have any of the Classics. It's just my thing, I guess. EVH 5150 III can substitute for that. FENDER!! Or is it a Marshall FENDER??

The guys in Evile use that amp on Five Serpents Teeth and Skull if you want to hear a recorded/band version.

Amp sounds stellar.

I've been using the EVH since they came out, and I love that amp. Tons of gain, nice cleans, yadda, yadda. It sounds good enough that I even have guys at shows come up and tell me that they like my sound..... FWIW....

I've been gigging with my 5150III three times a month since I bought it in August.

I replaced the 6L6's shortly after with Gold Lion KT66. I'm liking it even more. The KT's gave a hint of EL34 chime to the tone. Yes, the PT can handle the extra heater current of the KT66. :hbang:
