I've been there dude, it sounds tight, add some flanger or phaser and you're going brown all the way!

Also with 2 V30's in a closed back, it's crazy how good it sounds, I add some SD-1 in front always and what else do you need ?

A lot of people still want this tone, including myself. :)
The closest I have been able to come, is with the 70's JMP master volumes with original Dagnalls. Modding a MXR phase 90 will help with that sound as well. I have never been able to get a brown sound with modern Marshall's so I have stuck with the 70's JMP's. Looking forward to hearing your clip. Here is my feeble attempt at the brown sound. :)

I can see that working. My DSL is modded. After doing another tweak the other day, I arbitrarily set all the eq knobs to 6. Red 1 sounded amazing.

What do you guys think?

Your settings are similar to mine on the green when I use it a 'distortion tone'. Gain on 10 is a sweet sound!

But I use the red channel for my rock/metal tone and set the green on lead 1, gain about 3, volume 10 to have a really clean tone for when I need it. It's not a plexi sound at all, but more of a Fender PLUS tone.

Dave is a cool dude and know his stuff!! Imo, GREAT amps!! REALLY great... I think it's fortunate that nowadays there are several guys who's amps capture that tone potential. I think the Cameron Atomica, Mark aka Rockstah's mods, Mike Fortin, John Suhr, Dave Friedman, David Bray, George Metropoulos, Victor Mason (Mojave Amp Works) ALL have products that'll afford someone who can play utilizing that "vibe" would be able to be happy.

I gotta put my Cameron Atomica Brown sound video up now.

Someone's (Hi shredless... LOL) gonna get upset that I am posting this. LOL
