Neither love or hate. I liked their stuff a lot. Too bad they got marketed as a glam hair band, because the musicianship is off the chart and they could have had a longer run. Kip Winger is a great songwriter and has an excellent voice. Reb Beach can really play too.
I saw Winger at a Show Kiss was headlining back in the early 90's, I was into guitar at the time and remember being blown away by Wingers sound and seeing Reb play.
Saw them on the first headlining tour after Seventeen became a big hit on MTV in '88 (I think?!). It was them with Cinderella and BulletBoys opened. Was a kickass concert. To this day Seventeen is a guilty pleasure to listen too.
So agree with everone. They played at a small club in Greenwood Indiana in 1988. I stood about 10 feet in front of the stage and i was so blown away. Still one of the best sounding concerts for me to this day.
I have nothing but respect for the guys in Winger. Not a fan though. B & B didn't ruin Winger. Winger ruined Winger. All the hair fluff and spinning kicks became a not so funny joke by the time they came out. Bad marketing of really good musicians.
