Brand New Class 5 Heads, $249

Are the Haze cabs made of MDF? If one is not gigging heavily, the less sturdy materials should not be an issue & will net you a nice lookin' 1x12 ext cab for sure.

Brand New Class 5 Heads, $249

Mine came w/ a circular sticker: Marshall 100% Pure Class A tone from start to finish. Made in England (w/ Union Jack). C5-01 combo purchased Nov 2011. When I got her home from GC, I immediately pulled it off the combo & placed the sticker on my Strat case, joining all the other stickers on it...

    Creep

No worries - you were not coming off like an ass. Thanks for clarifying. OTOH, would they have to pay a fee to the "shared" writers when playing it in concert, esp if said concert was not being recorded for a legitimate commercial release? What if Thom Yorke popped into a club one night & did...

    JMD range discontinued

While not the same product, I have owned/used a similar one (in terms of the DSP IC or processor PCB business) for close to 15 years with no issues. Have had a Roland GP-100 - the first Roland/BOSS rack preamp to utilize their COSM amp simulation tech - since it was a current product back in...

    Creep

10 Unexpected Song-Writing Collaborations | Musicouch CREEP is among these 10 examples of "shared songwriting". Keep in mind that 2 members of the Hollies get writing credit for CREEP, along with the members of Radiohead who were initially credited - it is not like it cost the band an arm &...

    Class 5 & Fuzz

Fuzz & distortion can push the C5 too hard, leading to farty mud. The real trick, I find, is to make sure that I run distortion pedals as close to unity (effect ON same volume as effect OFF) as possible. I run an MXR '78 Distortion, a Jekyll & Hyde and 3-4 different flavors of dirt coming...

A Touch of Class...Class5 Owners Welcome!

A choke acts as a sort of "filter" to smooth out the AC current in an amp. They are constructed similarly to output transformers, just smaller. Most modern tube amps use heavy resistors in the place of a choke. As to the tonal, or "feel", differences - using a choke can result in less...

A Touch of Class...Class5 Owners Welcome!

Arrogant for sure, but also pretty generous with the tips for this particular amp mod. Still kicking around doing most of those mods, but the current sound clips that are posted there sound no better (and at living room jam volumes, not nearly as good) as my stock C5 with my outboard stuff...

Local Guitar Shop Became A Crime Scene...

Are these bubbly/orange peeled Gibbys being shot w/ nitro laquer? Just curious.

A Touch of Class...Class5 Owners Welcome!

I was looking @ the C5 mods thread over @ MLP today (saw you posting there lately, iron broadsword!). I also see Lyle C is back on that forum after a long absense. The guy is a well spring of tube amp knowledge....but I did find his comment that Marshall should have "hired an actual engineer"...

Local Guitar Shop Became A Crime Scene...

I worked in musical instrument retail for about 10 years & heard several stories about how "shitty" some Gibsons were coming off the assembly line. Most new Gibsons I have had the chance to play these days are generally very nice guitars, albeit way too pricey (IMO) for what you get. If I were...

I am amazed how many seasoned guys can not string a guitar properly

Try just the pencil graphite first. I just make sure the pencil is freshly sharpened, then carefully grind the tip into each slot, brushing any excess graphite dust back into the slot. I usually do this AFTER installing the new string, but prior to bringing it to full tension.

I am amazed how many seasoned guys can not string a guitar properly

I keep a sharpened #2 pencil in my Strat case - and have done so with every non-locking nut trem-equipped guitar I've had for years. In the past, I have used crushed pencil graphite + some light machine oil (or even bore oil for wind instruments) & made "nut sauce". Graphite nuts, OTOH, just...

Iron Maiden JMP 50's or JCM800 2204's anyone know the answer?

On the Ed Force One documentary featured on the recent En Vivo! live DVD/BluRay, you see Dave Murray's guitar tech back stage with (IIRC) a DSL head that is part of Dave's live rig. He comments on folks always looking at the knobs to discover hsi settings. The tech scoffs & proceeds to mess with...

    Let's see you ESP's

A local indie music shop that is an ESP dealer has a cool LTD Lynch "Kamikazie" model that looks cool....may need to check it out sometime.

A Touch of Class...Class5 Owners Welcome!

Another member posted on the C5/Sweetwater thread that Sweetwater informed them they were out of stock...but getting more this week. $250 price is still good, apparently. Guess this was not a one time/liited to stock on hand sale......

Brand New Class 5 Heads, $249

Nice to know that the $250 price was not a one time/stock on hand deal. Like I need a C5 head.....:hmm:

What's your favorite pedal with the Class 5 and why?

TS9s are total sluts - they love a lot of amps.:D

Want to re-live the 80's on a budget? Let Ibanez help!

NOt a comment on Carvin quality - they make pretty nice stuff. I just recall in my days as a music store employee that Carvin gear had horrid trade in/aftermarket value. You could get more in trade for an Asian built Epi or Squier in many cases than a Carvin.

    Dave Murray/Adrian Smith/Janick Gers

Supposedly, Steve Harris was given a couple of ultimatums by Bruce Dickinson & Adrian Smith when their return to Maiden was being discussed in 1999. IIRC, I got this info from some fan club bio swag issued a sometime after 2000....... Bruce had 1 major requirement - he'd return if Adrian Smith...
