Thanks a million
Here are the tubes. They seem to be fine, but my DRRI sounds much louder at the same volume. The effects loop works fine as well. I might have to swap the preamp tubes.
Cheers and thanks again

I recently moved my VM 2266 combo for a gig, when I came back, the volume decreased substantially and the sound was not as full and bassy as before.
I suspect that a power tube either got burned or dislocated.
Before I do anything I just wanted to check with the tech masters here.
Cheers...
So how does it fair compared to a Vintage Modern. I have the VM and was wondering how the new amp would sound. The fact that it has a DI out is a biggie for me.
Cheers

I finally received my "new" used Marshall Vintage modern 50W combo. Great Amp no doubt with good sounding vintage tones. I just have two comments
1- The Digital Reverb on the amp is quite lacking
2-The presence knob seems to work very subtly ...has that been the experience with all of them?
cheers
Thanks a million
John: I too want to play at home, so what you said about the dual action of an attenuator and the master volume is the way to go. Thanks
Jethro Rocker: That's relief. I know not all PCB boards are bad, but this issue is always in the air.
Hey Folks
I finally bought a Vintage Modern 2260 Combo! It'll take some time before it arrives. I hope it's in good shape, I never thought I'd buy an amp with a PCB board, but it was good advice.
I'm looking for a good attenuator for it, a 50-watt amp is something to reckon with for my use...
I've been thinking lately, after what was discussed here, of recording directly through a preamp hooked into a mixer. I looked at the possible tube preamps out there and found a few...any experiences with any of them ? Your comments would be highly appreciated...
Hey folks
I'm gravitating towards buying a 1987x. However, I use my drum machine for practice on a DRRI by hooking it in the clean channel and playing through the tremolo channel. Will I be able to do that on 1987x without putting it in the effects loop? (I might use for an attenuator/volume...
I agree with you, I played one a few years ago and they sounded too gainy for my taste ... that's why I had edited my post just at the same time you were posting.
I hope I can find a vintage modern !Thanks for your input!
I'm trying hard to find a Modern vintage, it looks like my best bet, but they seem to be very few in my neck of the woods.
I wonder why no one mentioned the JVM 410h? It may not be vintage but sure looks versatile.
Thank you all
Yes the 1987x with an attenuator was what I lusted for. But I agree with what was said, I do need both the MV and the FX loop. I looked at the 2061X, the mini Jubilee and the Astoria. The Jube seems to have most of what I need,
They all sound great on youtube (with compression...

I'm currently in Europe ... so that's why I'll have to find a good Vintage Modern 2266c combo that's also 240V . It's not that easy I guess. But I'll shop around.
Thank you all marshallmellowed, Deep Purple fan, DP Tone5, slag and soundboy1957 for your recommendations.
The 1987x and the JTM 45 are great vintage type amps, but what attenuator would be a good choice (TDH, Riviera?)? I even thought of going with a Mesa Mark V:25 or 35, they come with a...
