Marshall pedals with Marshall amps: Blues Break, Guvnor

I use a guvnor plus and then hit it with a tubescreamer for metal on a 18 watt TMB amp using the non TMB side. On that amp it sounds incredible and big Marshall amp sound all the way.

    JCM 2000 DSL 100 faceplate ?

Contact Marshall directly and ask them. I got a faceplate for a 2203x new directly from them a few years ago only to realize the new amps and old amps do not have all the holes drilled the same so it wouldn’t line up on a original jcm800.

    Marshall Tsl60/tsl100 Appreciation Thread!!

I just spent all yesterday evening playing my TSL100 through a new cab arrangement that I finally put together after having it for years. Do I ever love that amp. I use the tone shift quite a bit at times depending on what speakers, cabs, and music I’m playing. When I use this amp for endless...

    Your favorite grab-n-go Marshall combo

My favorite grab and go Marshall is my jcm800 4010 combo. It’s a phenomenal amp with a lot of power and tone and can pound with a 412 because it’s a 2204 in a combo package. My favorite non Marshall combo is a 18 watt TMB clone kit amp. That thing is absolutely ferocious for metal with a guvnor...

    JCM 2000 DSL-100

I’ve got a DSL100 MLB like the one in the picture and it’s a killer amp. I also have a TSL100 and both amps are running the same pre amp tubes, power tubes, and even the same bias. Opinions may vary but to me those JCM2000 amps are some of the best modern amps I’ve ever heard or played when...

Tubes for Marshall JCM 2000 - TSL 100

I have a DSL100 and a TSL100 and actually find both of them to be pretty reliable as long as they have fairly fresh power tubes and reasonable bias set. Marshall recommended 90mV on the pins and that’s way too much and will cause trouble sooner or later. They have to be set lower. Power tubes...

Are JCM2000 amps “voiced” for the Celestion G12T-75 speaker?

I used to leave it in the garage with the cab up right but the neighbors at my old house went absolutely wild with slayer pounding out of that amp all day even with the door shut. The whole house emitted sound from that lol.

Are JCM2000 amps “voiced” for the Celestion G12T-75 speaker?

I haven’t had any recent new greenbacks but they seem to balance out after some good pounding for a while. My special break in procedure is to lay the cab face down on the floor, feed slayer into a 2204 with a iPod all day, and crank it about half way. They always sound better after hours of that.

Are JCM2000 amps “voiced” for the Celestion G12T-75 speaker?

I was just playing my TSL100 last night through a 70’s greenback cab and also own a DSL100. First time I ever played a TSL100 was through a 1960AC cab many years ago and I thought it had magic. They have some serious EQ at hand and can sound pretty good with almost anything but I always...

    Examples of 2203 tone?

I believe it’s fairly hard to have just a simple easy representation of the 2203 sound because it seems to be very transparent in allowing every person, guitar, and effects to sound unique. That’s one of my favorite things about them. I have a 78 JMP2203 and it’s absolutely pleasing and...

    Marshall Straight In

I play a ton of stuff from Slayer to SRV so it depends on what music and guitars I’m playing and what pedals suit it or none. I mostly use my 2203/04 amps for almost everything. It’s real hard to get a accurate SRV Pride and Joy sound without a tubescreamer or two or a nice Hendrix sound without...

    JCM800 4010 gain and distortion

I’ve got a vertical input 4010 all stock and 6550’s. It has all the 2203/04 gain that these amps have on the high input and is unholy loud for a 112 amp and I’m even running a greenback in it. 2 on the master and it woofs the speaker. However, mine sounds absolutely awesome at some nice...

    What wah do you have?

I’ve got a older cry baby, 76 Vox, and a zw wah. My all time favorite is the old Vox. It was brand new when I got it and needed to clean the pot and oil it to use it as it had not even been broke in. However it sounds exactly like my favorite SRV and Hendrix stuff. It has that flavor and sound...

Is this a Drake transformer in this jcm800?

I have a 82 USA 4010 with 6550’s and it has that exact same label and all drake iron. Mine is all shiny and new looking after all these years but I don’t live in a humid environment. Mine came with the G12m-65 but I tried a greenback in it and I liked it better. Something to consider is mine...

    Angus Young's rig

I play a lot of AC/DC and similar sounds but don’t have a plexi. I do it through 2203/04 amps and have greatly experimented with bias and sound. I personally like my Marshall’s biased around 65%. More and things can get too mushy, saturated, and some amps fizzy. Much less than 60% and I hear...

    2 x 10 Discovery !

I have a mini stack and my wife got me the 10’ greenbacks for it. That thing sounds absolutely amazing. I fired my TSL 100 and 2204 through those speakers and couldn’t believe how good those amps sound through them. I actually do most of the practice and lower volume playing through those...

What tube are you guys running in your TSL100's ??

Well, for me I have the JJ E34L’s and their gold pin ecc83’s in both my TSL and DSL100 amps and absolutely love their sound and huge low end power. I also have the E34L’s in a 2204 with great results. I don’t bias them very hot and that seems to help.

    Nad - Holy Grail For Me- 1982 Jcm800 4010

I used Tung Sol 6550’s and have RCA long grey plate 12ax7’s in the pre amp section. Funny thing is I had tubed it with tung sol 6550’s about 10yrs ago and there was no depreciation in output power and low end between the old set compared to the new set. I had a lot of time on those tubes over...

    Nad - Holy Grail For Me- 1982 Jcm800 4010

No thread is too old in regards to 4010’s. I have a 82 4010 and it’s absolutely phenomenal. I have the original G12m-65 but honestly preferred a greenback in it. Mine is a USA 6550 model and I just retubed it recently. I thought it sounded great before now it’s phenomenal. Here’s some technical...

I like really, really like Boosts.

I’m a boost every Marshall I own person. I have a zw44, ts9dx, and boss sd1. I think I might prefer the ts9dx set to the ts9 setting for metal the most with my 2203. After exhaustive comparison it seems to be a little fuller and more open and natural sounding. The other two pedals have a harder...
