I'm very reluctant to post any information about myself. I'm sorry. I know that's lame. I just want to remain anonymous. I'll just say I'm in my mid-late 20s.
I don't really have a "band". Just me and this drummer guy who is a pro. He's kind of helping me out. I need experience. He's really...
Okay, so here's my first impression of the amp:
Visually, these amps are eye-candy. They are beautiful, well-built amps. and the quality is obvious as soon as you unbox it. As for the sonic aspect of the amp, it is definitely a monster, especially when paired with the 1960a Marshall cab with...
I guess I'm just talking about "acclaimed musicians". I hold firmly to my position that you guys know exactly what I mean but are nitpicking because it's fun to be smart alec. Lok
Anything above saying my ABCs is too complicated for me. I'm not a technical or mathematical person. My brain zones out the second someone starts talking about that kind of stuff.
The deal was he was going to put it in a JCM800 style box for no upcharge. I told him I wanted it to look just like a JCM800, and he puts that grey basket weave grill cloth on it? He had to go out of his way to do that. It wasn't already on it. It just doesn't make sense to me.
Also, can someone tell me how to set the impedance on the amp? What should I be plugged into on the amp and the cab? Every online source on impedance I view is way too complicated. They want to give you the history of Isaac Newton developing calculus, Darwin's theory of natural selection...
Got the Splawn! What a monster of an amp! The only issue is that he put that gray "basket weave" looking grill cloth on it! Wtf? Why the hell did he do that? I didn't tell him to do that. The amp I bought was a demo he sold to me at cost that was originally in a plexi box. I told him I wanted it...
That's not what I'm talking about. I just used myself as an example because I couldn't think of anyone else. I'm just talking about the "star quality" I see in most, if not all, stars. Not even stars actually. Regular, unknown musicians who are good have this quality too. There's something about...
I'm not saying they don't work hard or get lucky. I'm simply saying that some people are born with that "star" quality. There are some people who will never make it no matter how hard they work because they just don't have what I'm talking about. Once again I think you guys know full well what I...
You ever notice how it seems the people who make it to rockstar status seem pretty much like they were born to be rockstars? I firmly believe that being someone who makes it to the level of a star (especially people who are highly distinguished) seem to have something about them that no amount...
Welp, my Splawn is scheduled to arrive tomorrow! I'm going to pick up a 1960a cab tonight from a guy on CL $250. Tomorrow will be a rocking day for me! (hopefully)
All I know is that I just bought a really nice quality amplifier built for a solid modded Marshall tone and I'm beyond excited to get it here and start shredding. I think it will be KILLER! There's really no reason why I shouldn't be able to get a good sound out this amp.
Okay. I feel much better then. That's exactly what I want. Something that'll do screaming Skid Row/Extreme/Ratt/VH tones. Honestly, I don't see how I can have any high end tube amp and not be able to get a good tone.
I spent months watching every video I could on YouTube looking at Marshall-voiced heads. I had a particular sound in my head I was going for. I looked at the Friedmans, Bogners, etc... They just didn't have that sound. Didn't like the harshness and raspiness of the Bogner. And I honestly don't...
You guys are making me upset for buying this amp. First everybody's like "get the Splawn. Get the Splawn." I buy it, then everyone's like "Ehhh...Those Splawns...They're not that great."
