I have a Marshall JTM45 30 watt head, and a cab with one 10", 15 watt speaker. Would this ever be a problem for the amp? The impedance is matched at 16 ohms, and I hardly ever have the volume past 2.
Thanks.
At most I'd only be touching the preamp wires. I've heard about draining the caps, but have no idea how to do it. I'm sure if I don't even know how to do it then I shouldn't even be touching preamp wires.
I have a 1993 1987x reissue head that sounds great but has the annoying hum or white noise issue that apparently is pretty common. A tech recently looked everything over and found no major issues. My research tells me it's probably something to do with preamp wiring, tubes, etc. I'd like to open...
Forgot to mention that I'd be interested in a trade for a JTM45 head+cash (by me of course). I've picked up another 1960AX cab, and this head sounds incredible with it, so I'll just keep enjoying it in the mean time. Thanks again.
I'm always looking to buy and sell new gear all the time. Since I ended up selling my cab, I've got my eye on a JTM45 head. I had one years ago and have always wanted another ever since. This Class 5 did sound incredible with that Orange cab!
Make Offer! Awesome, brand new perfect Marshall Class 5 head. These retail for $350, and this head has been used less than 20 minutes. Sounds amazing and looks great. I've actually had two different versions of the combo before this head which were ok. But, I used this head with an Orange 1x12...
I had a Class 5 and used it with an Ultimate Attenuator...wasn't happy with the result. Plus it was weird having an attenuator that cost more than the amp. 5 tube watts can be damn loud by the way.
I've got a completely stock 1989 Marshall JTM45 head with GT 6L6's power tubes and original ECC83 pre amp tubes. It sounds great with my 1960AX cab, but a little added gain wouldn't hurt, and I would like to experiment with some pre amp tubes. What would be best for more gain? Any NOS brand...
I have the same REVAMP sticker on my 2002 1960AX cab. I was told by someone at U.S. Music Corp. (who now handles service for Marshall amps) that just means there was a revision of that particular part. I guess the Item No 196x-10-00 is the part that was revised.
I have a first year 1989 JTM45 Resissue head with the stock 6L6 power tubes. Would there be any problems (biasing, transformers, etc..) with changing them to a matched pair of EL34's? I'm looking for a little earlier breakup. Any input is much appreciated.
Looking for a Marshall 4x12 with the 25w greenbacks. Could be the 1960 classic, AX, BX, TV, etc...
I'm in Baton Rouge, LA but willing to travel a reasonable distance.
